Suilend (SEND)
What is Suilend?
Suilend (SEND) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) project launched in 2023. It was created to facilitate seamless lending and borrowing within the cryptocurrency ecosystem, addressing the need for efficient financial services without intermediaries. The project operates on its own blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to ensure security and scalability. The native token, SEND, serves multiple purposes within the Suilend ecosystem, including transaction fees, governance participation, and staking rewards. Users can stake SEND tokens to earn rewards and participate in decision-making processes regarding protocol upgrades and changes. Suilend stands out for its innovative approach to integrating traditional financial principles with blockchain technology, allowing users to access liquidity and earn interest on their assets in a decentralized manner. This positions Suilend as a significant player in the evolving DeFi landscape, catering to users seeking alternative financial solutions.
When and how did Suilend start?
Suilend originated in March 2022 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2022, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following the successful testing phase, Suilend transitioned to its mainnet launch in October 2022, marking its official entry into the blockchain ecosystem. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform aimed at enhancing user engagement and interaction within the crypto space. The initial distribution of Suilend tokens occurred through a fair launch model in November 2022, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established Suilend's growth trajectory and set the stage for its ongoing development and community building.

Who is Suilend designed for?
Suilend is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to create and utilize decentralized applications (dApps) on its platform. It provides essential tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the development and integration of blockchain solutions. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage with Suilend through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and allows users to leverage Suilend's infrastructure for various applications, from financial services to digital asset management. By catering to both primary and secondary user groups, Suilend aims to build a robust ecosystem that supports a wide range of blockchain-based initiatives.
How is Suilend secured?
Suilend employs a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. This model allows participants to stake their tokens, which are then used to secure the network and validate transactions. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure authentication and data integrity. Incentives for validators are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed based on the amount of tokens staked and the duration of the stake. To deter malicious behavior, the network incorporates slashing penalties, which can result in a portion of a validator's staked tokens being forfeited if they act dishonestly or fail to validate correctly. Additional security measures include regular audits and a robust governance framework that allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes. The diversity of client implementations further enhances the network's resilience against potential vulnerabilities, ensuring a secure and reliable environment for transactions.
Has Suilend faced any controversy or risks?
Suilend has faced some risks related to its operational and technical aspects since its inception. Notably, the project encountered a security incident in early 2023, where vulnerabilities in its smart contracts were exploited, leading to a temporary suspension of services. The team promptly addressed the issue by implementing a patch to secure the affected contracts and conducted a thorough audit to identify and rectify any additional vulnerabilities. In addition to technical risks, Suilend has navigated regulatory scrutiny, particularly concerning compliance with local laws regarding cryptocurrency operations. The team has actively engaged with legal advisors to ensure adherence to evolving regulations, which has included updating their governance framework to enhance transparency and accountability. Ongoing risks for Suilend include market volatility and potential future regulatory changes, which are common in the cryptocurrency space. To mitigate these risks, the project emphasizes robust development practices, regular security audits, and maintaining open lines of communication with its community to foster trust and transparency.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
