What is pSTAKE Finance ?
pSTAKE Finance (PSTAKE) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) project launched in 2021 by the Persistence team. It aims to unlock the liquidity of staked assets, allowing users to stake their cryptocurrencies while simultaneously utilizing them in other DeFi applications. The project operates on the Cosmos blockchain, leveraging its interoperability features to facilitate cross-chain interactions and enhance user experience. The native token, PSTAKE, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including governance, staking, and as a utility token for transaction fees. Users can stake their assets to earn rewards while receiving pTokens, which represent their staked assets and can be used in various DeFi protocols. pSTAKE Finance stands out for its innovative approach to liquid staking, enabling users to maximize the utility of their staked assets without sacrificing security or potential rewards. This unique feature positions pSTAKE as a significant player in the DeFi landscape, catering to users looking to optimize their staking strategies while participating in the broader DeFi ecosystem.
When and how did pSTAKE Finance start?
pSTAKE Finance originated in November 2020 when the team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision for liquid staking on the Cosmos network. The project launched its testnet in early 2021, allowing users to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following successful testing, pSTAKE Finance transitioned to its mainnet launch in March 2021, marking its initial public availability and enabling users to stake their assets while receiving liquid tokens in return. Early development focused on creating a seamless user experience for liquid staking, aiming to enhance capital efficiency within the DeFi ecosystem. The initial distribution of the pSTAKE token occurred through a fair launch model in April 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods. These foundational steps established pSTAKE Finance's growth trajectory and laid the groundwork for its ecosystem development.
What’s coming up for pSTAKE Finance ?
According to official updates, pSTAKE Finance is preparing for the launch of its v2 protocol, which is planned for Q4 2023. This upgrade aims to enhance user experience and scalability by introducing new features such as improved staking mechanisms and expanded asset support. They can participate in governance decisions, ensuring that the platform evolves according to the community's needs. Overall, pSTAKE Finance fosters a collaborative ecosystem that benefits a diverse range of users while promoting the growth of decentralized finance.
How is pSTAKE Finance secured?
pSTAKE Finance utilizes a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected based on the amount of stake they hold and are required to lock up a certain amount of tokens as collateral, which aligns their interests with the network's security. The protocol employs cryptographic techniques such as Ed25519 for authentication and ensuring data integrity. This ensures that transactions are securely signed and verified, protecting against unauthorized access and manipulation. Incentives for participants are structured through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their role in securing the network. Additionally, there are slashing penalties in place for validators who act maliciously or fail to perform their duties, thereby discouraging dishonest behavior and promoting network reliability. To further enhance security, pSTAKE Finance incorporates regular audits and governance processes, ensuring that the protocol remains robust against vulnerabilities. The use of diverse client implementations also contributes to the overall resilience of the network.
Has pSTAKE Finance faced any controversy or risks?
pSTAKE Finance has faced risks primarily related to the broader DeFi landscape, particularly concerning smart contract vulnerabilities and market volatility. While there have been no significant public controversies directly tied to pSTAKE Finance itself, the project operates within a sector that is often scrutinized for security and regulatory challenges. The team has implemented various security measures, including audits by third-party firms to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities in their smart contracts. Additionally, they maintain a transparent governance structure that allows for community input and decision-making, which helps address any concerns that may arise. Ongoing risks for pSTAKE Finance include market fluctuations and potential regulatory scrutiny, which are common in the DeFi space. To mitigate these risks, the project emphasizes continuous development practices, regular audits, and community engagement to ensure a robust and secure platform for its users.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
