Shiba Inu (SHIB)
What is Shiba Inu?
Shiba Inu (SHIB) is a decentralized cryptocurrency launched in August 2020 by an anonymous entity known as "Ryoshi." It was created as an experiment in decentralized community building, aiming to be an alternative to Dogecoin, often referred to as the "Dogecoin Killer." Shiba Inu operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing the ERC-20 token standard, which allows for compatibility with the Ethereum ecosystem. The primary role of the SHIB token is as a medium of exchange within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, which includes features like the ShibaSwap decentralized exchange. SHIB can also be used for staking to earn rewards and for governance purposes, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes related to the project. Shiba Inu stands out due to its strong community focus and its rapid rise in popularity, partly driven by social media engagement and the broader meme coin trend. Its significance lies in its demonstration of how community-driven projects can achieve substantial market presence and influence within the cryptocurrency space.
When and how did Shiba Inu start?
Shiba Inu originated in August 2020 when an anonymous individual or group known as "Ryoshi" released the project. The project did not initially publish a whitepaper but later released a document known as the "WoofPaper," which outlined its vision and goals. Shiba Inu was built on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing its robust infrastructure for security and smart contract capabilities. The initial token distribution of Shiba Inu was characterized as a fair launch, with no pre-sale or team allocation. Instead, the tokens were made available to the public via decentralized exchanges, allowing anyone to purchase them from the outset. A significant portion of the token supply was also sent to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who later donated and burned a large portion of these tokens. This unique distribution approach and the project's early focus on community building laid the groundwork for Shiba Inu's rapid growth and the establishment of its ecosystem.
What’s coming up for Shiba Inu?
According to official updates, Shiba Inu is gearing up for several significant developments. One of the main initiatives is the continued rollout of Shibarium, a layer-2 blockchain solution intended to enhance scalability and reduce transaction costs. This development is expected to further bolster the Shiba Inu ecosystem and is a key focus for the project in the coming months. Additionally, the team is working on expanding the utility of the Shiba Inu token through various integrations and partnerships aimed at increasing its adoption and use cases. There is also an emphasis on community-driven governance, with upcoming votes and proposals designed to allow holders to have a more active role in the project's future direction. These milestones are part of Shiba Inu's broader strategy to solidify its position in the crypto market by enhancing its technical capabilities and fostering a robust community. Progress on these initiatives can typically be tracked through official communication channels such as the project's blog and social media updates.

Is Shiba Inu still active or relevant?
Shiba Inu remains active and relevant, as evidenced by recent developments and community engagement. In September 2023, the Shiba Inu team announced updates to Shibarium, their Layer 2 blockchain solution, which aims to enhance scalability and transaction efficiency. This development is pivotal for increasing the utility of Shiba Inu tokens within decentralized finance applications and the broader ecosystem. The project maintains a robust presence on major exchanges, ensuring liquidity and accessibility for traders. Additionally, Shiba Inu's active social media channels and community forums continue to engage a large audience, fostering a vibrant community around the token. Governance within the Shiba Inu ecosystem is also active, with ongoing proposals and community votes shaping the project's future direction. These elements demonstrate Shiba Inu's continued relevance as a meme-based cryptocurrency with growing utility and community-driven initiatives.
Who is Shiba Inu designed for?
Shiba Inu is designed primarily for consumers and cryptocurrency enthusiasts who are interested in engaging with a decentralized meme token. It enables users to participate in a vibrant community and explore various use cases within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, such as trading, holding, and using the token for payments. Shiba Inu provides tools and resources, including integration with popular cryptocurrency wallets, to facilitate easy access and transactions. Secondary participants, like liquidity providers and community members, engage through activities such as staking and participating in governance decisions, contributing to the ecosystem's growth and sustainability.
How is Shiba Inu secured?
Shiba Inu operates on the Ethereum blockchain, leveraging Ethereum's proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism for its security. In this model, validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are chosen based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This staking process aligns incentives by rewarding validators with transaction fees and newly minted tokens, while also imposing penalties, such as slashing, for malicious activities or network disruptions. The network utilizes cryptographic techniques, such as the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure authentication and data integrity. This cryptographic approach secures transactions and prevents unauthorized access. Additionally, the security of Shiba Inu benefits from Ethereum's robust infrastructure, which includes regular security audits, a comprehensive bug bounty program, and a diverse client ecosystem. These measures collectively enhance the resilience and reliability of the network.
Has Shiba Inu faced any controversy or risks?
Shiba Inu has faced several controversies and risks since its inception. One notable incident occurred in May 2021 when the anonymous creator, Ryoshi, sent half of the total SHIB supply to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. Buterin subsequently donated and burned a significant portion of these tokens, which initially caused market volatility and raised concerns about the concentration of tokens in a single wallet. The team addressed this by emphasizing decentralization and community control. Additionally, Shiba Inu has faced scrutiny over its speculative nature and meme-based origins, which can lead to significant price volatility and investor risk. The project has taken steps to mitigate these risks by launching initiatives such as ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange, and engaging in community-driven governance. As with most blockchain projects, ongoing risks include market volatility, regulatory scrutiny, and technical vulnerabilities. The Shiba Inu team works to mitigate these through development practices, community engagement, and increasing transparency.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
