When and how did IdleMine start?
IdleMine originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing users to engage with the platform in a controlled environment and provide feedback for improvements. Following the successful testnet phase, IdleMine transitioned to its mainnet launch in September 2021, marking its official public availability. Early development focused on creating a user-friendly interface for mining and optimizing idle assets, aiming to enhance the overall efficiency of cryptocurrency mining. The initial distribution of IdleMine tokens occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods. These foundational steps established the groundwork for IdleMine's growth and the development of its ecosystem.

Is IdleMine still active or relevant?
IdleMine remains active through its recent updates and community engagement initiatives. As of September 2023, the project announced a new version release that enhances its mining efficiency and user interface, demonstrating ongoing development efforts. The team is currently focusing on expanding its ecosystem integrations, particularly with decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, which indicates a strategic direction aimed at increasing utility and user adoption. Furthermore, IdleMine has maintained a presence on various trading platforms, ensuring liquidity and market engagement. The project’s governance model is also active, with recent proposals submitted for community voting, reflecting a commitment to decentralized decision-making. These indicators support IdleMine's continued relevance within the cryptocurrency mining and DeFi sectors, as it adapts to market demands and technological advancements.
Who is IdleMine designed for?
IdleMine is designed for individual users and crypto enthusiasts, enabling them to optimize their cryptocurrency holdings through automated mining and yield generation. It provides user-friendly tools and resources, including a straightforward interface for managing mining activities and maximizing returns on investments. Secondary participants such as developers and liquidity providers can engage with IdleMine by contributing to its ecosystem through the development of additional features or providing liquidity for various mining pools. This engagement supports the platform's growth and enhances the overall user experience. By catering to both primary users and secondary participants, IdleMine aims to create a robust environment that fosters innovation and efficiency in cryptocurrency mining and yield optimization.
How is IdleMine secured?
IdleMine employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral, which aligns their interests with the security of the network. To ensure data integrity and secure authentication, IdleMine utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques such as Ed25519 for digital signatures. This cryptography enhances the security of transactions and protects against unauthorized access. Incentive mechanisms are in place to promote honest behavior among participants. Validators earn rewards for their contributions to the network, while penalties, known as slashing, are imposed on those who act maliciously or fail to validate transactions correctly. Additional security measures include regular audits and a robust governance framework that allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes. This multi-faceted approach to security contributes to the overall resilience and reliability of the IdleMine network.
Has IdleMine faced any controversy or risks?
IdleMine has faced some risks related to the security of its smart contracts and potential vulnerabilities inherent in decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. In early 2023, the project identified a vulnerability in its liquidity pool contracts that could have been exploited by malicious actors. The team promptly addressed the issue by deploying a patch to secure the contracts and prevent any potential exploits. They also conducted a thorough audit of the codebase to ensure that no further vulnerabilities existed. In addition to technical risks, IdleMine has navigated regulatory scrutiny, as many DeFi projects do, particularly concerning compliance with financial regulations in various jurisdictions. The team has been proactive in engaging with legal advisors to ensure that their operations align with applicable laws. Ongoing risks for IdleMine include market volatility and the inherent risks associated with smart contracts, which are common across the DeFi landscape. To mitigate these risks, IdleMine has implemented regular security audits, a bug bounty program to incentivize community reporting of vulnerabilities, and transparent communication with its user base regarding any potential risks and updates.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
