THE CONTEXT BEHIND THE NUMBERS

One market.
Different ways to explore it.

Categories group cryptocurrencies by what they do, the technology they use, or the communities they serve.

Read the market data methodology

Yes. A token can fit several themes, for example a network that is both a Layer 1 and an AI project. Each sector counts it in full, so adding sector market caps together would count some coins more than once.

Market capitalization is price multiplied by circulating supply. A sector's market cap is the sum of its members' market caps among the top 500 coins by rank. Volume is reported trading volume: the last 24 hours, or the rolling 7-day total for 7d; 30-day volume is not available. Volume is trading activity, not money flowing into a sector.

As a market-cap-weighted basket return with weights at the start of the period. Each member's starting value is its market cap divided by one plus its price change; the sector's return is the sum now over the sum at the start, minus one. Membership is today's, held fixed for the period, and a member without a price change for the period sits out of that period.

24h market-cap change uses each coin's own reported 24-hour market-cap change, so it reflects price and circulating supply. 7d and 30d market-cap change is price-implied: today's market cap moved back by the price change, at constant supply. Volume change compares the last 24 hours with the preceding 24 hours over the members that report both; with no preceding-week figure, 7d volume change is unavailable. A zero or missing baseline shows as a dash, never as 0%. Neither metric measures capital inflows.

Members come from CoinPaprika's tags, read live, limited to the top 500 coins by rank. Wrapped and liquid-staked copies are left out so an asset is not counted twice, and Stablecoins also include every coin pegged to the US dollar. Some large assets are not yet assigned to a sector, so some sector totals understate their sector.

The CoinPaprika API serves the coin-level market data and tags behind this page. There is no sector aggregate endpoint: the sector figures here are computed from coin-level data.
