When and how did Aspecta start?
Aspecta originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in December 2021, marking its official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a robust ecosystem for decentralized applications, emphasizing scalability and user experience. The initial distribution of Aspecta tokens occurred through a fair launch model in January 2022, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Aspecta's growth and the development of its community and ecosystem.
What’s coming up for Aspecta?
According to official updates, Aspecta is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing scalability and performance, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will improve user experience and transaction efficiency. Additionally, Aspecta is working on integrating with several strategic partners, with targeted completion by mid-2024. These partnerships are designed to expand the ecosystem and enhance the utility of the Aspecta platform. Progress on these initiatives will be monitored through their official channels, ensuring the community stays informed about developments and milestones.

Who is Aspecta designed for?
Aspecta is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to create and utilize decentralized applications effectively. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate development and integration within its ecosystem. The platform aims to empower developers by offering a robust infrastructure that supports the creation of innovative solutions, while consumers benefit from user-friendly applications that enhance their digital experiences. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a vibrant community, where all participants can play a role in shaping the future of the Aspecta ecosystem. By addressing the needs of both primary and secondary users, Aspecta aims to build a comprehensive platform that supports a diverse range of use cases and promotes widespread adoption.
How is Aspecta secured?
Aspecta employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators confirm transactions and maintain the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are required to stake a certain amount of Aspecta tokens to participate in the validation process, which ensures that they have a vested interest in the network's security and performance. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable and tamper-proof. Incentives for validators are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed for successfully validating transactions. To discourage malicious behavior, the network implements slashing penalties, where a portion of a validator's staked tokens can be forfeited if they act dishonestly or fail to fulfill their responsibilities. Additional security measures include regular audits and governance processes that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making, as well as a multi-client diversity approach that enhances resilience against potential vulnerabilities. These combined elements contribute to the overall security and robustness of the Aspecta network.
Has Aspecta faced any controversy or risks?
Aspecta has faced some risks primarily related to technical vulnerabilities and regulatory scrutiny. In early 2023, the project encountered a security incident involving a smart contract exploit that resulted in the loss of user funds. The team responded promptly by pausing the affected contract and conducting a thorough audit to identify and patch the vulnerabilities. They also communicated transparently with the community, outlining the steps taken to enhance security measures. In addition to technical risks, Aspecta has navigated regulatory challenges, particularly concerning compliance with evolving cryptocurrency regulations. The team has engaged with legal advisors to ensure adherence to applicable laws and has implemented measures to enhance transparency and user protection. Ongoing risks for Aspecta include market volatility and potential future regulatory changes, which are common in the blockchain space. To mitigate these risks, the project has established a bug bounty program and conducts regular audits to ensure the integrity of its systems and maintain user trust.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
