Troll (TROLL) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2021, designed to facilitate decentralized social interactions and content sharing. It aims to address issues related to online anonymity and the monetization of user-generated content. The project operates on its own blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that enables efficient transaction processing and energy conservation. The native token, TROLL, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, rewards for content creators, and governance participation, allowing holders to influence project decisions. Troll distinguishes itself through its focus on community engagement and user empowerment, providing tools for creators to monetize their content while maintaining control over their data. This unique approach positions Troll as a significant player in the intersection of social media and blockchain technology, catering to users seeking a decentralized alternative to traditional platforms.
When and how did Troll start?
Troll originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking the token's official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform aimed at enhancing user engagement and community interaction within the crypto space. The initial distribution of Troll tokens occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Troll's growth and the development of its ecosystem, positioning it for future advancements and community involvement.
What’s coming up for Troll?
According to official updates, Troll is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade, named Troll 2.0, which is planned for Q1 2024. This upgrade focuses on enhancing scalability and user experience, aiming to support a larger number of transactions per second and improve overall network efficiency. Additionally, Troll is set to launch a new decentralized application (dApp) marketplace in Q2 2024, which will facilitate easier access to various services within the Troll ecosystem. Further initiatives include a strategic partnership with a leading blockchain analytics firm, targeted for Q3 2024, to enhance security and transparency within the network. These milestones aim to improve the functionality and adoption of Troll, with progress being tracked through their official GitHub repository and roadmap updates.

Who is Troll designed for?
Troll is designed for a primary audience of developers and consumers, enabling them to create and utilize decentralized applications effectively. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate development and integration into various platforms. The project aims to empower developers by offering a robust infrastructure that supports innovative solutions while ensuring ease of access for end-users. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a vibrant ecosystem where all participants can thrive, aligning with Troll's mission to enhance user experience and promote widespread adoption of blockchain technology. By catering to both developers and consumers, Troll aims to bridge the gap between technical innovation and practical application, ensuring that its offerings meet the diverse needs of its user base.
How is Troll secured?
Troll employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected based on the amount of Troll tokens they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This model incentivizes participants to act honestly, as they stand to lose their staked tokens if they engage in malicious activities. The network utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Ed25519 for digital signatures, ensuring secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography protects against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. Additionally, a slashing mechanism penalizes validators for dishonest behavior, further securing the network against potential attacks. To enhance security, Troll undergoes regular audits and has implemented governance processes that allow the community to participate in decision-making. The diversity of client implementations also contributes to the network's resilience, reducing the risk of systemic failures.
Has Troll faced any controversy or risks?
Troll has faced regulatory scrutiny due to its unique tokenomics and governance structure, which raised concerns about compliance with existing financial regulations. In early 2023, the project was flagged by regulatory bodies for potential violations related to securities laws. The team responded by engaging legal counsel to review their framework and initiated a community governance vote to amend certain aspects of their token distribution model to ensure compliance. Additionally, Troll has encountered technical risks, particularly related to its smart contract functionality, which were highlighted during a routine security audit. The audit revealed vulnerabilities that could potentially be exploited. In response, the development team implemented a series of patches and conducted a follow-up audit to ensure the integrity of the platform. Ongoing risks for Troll include market volatility and potential regulatory changes, which the team aims to mitigate through regular audits, community engagement, and transparent communication regarding any updates or changes to their operational framework.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
