Popcat (POPCAT)
What is Popcat?
Popcat (POPCAT) is a cryptocurrency project designed to offer a unique digital experience, leveraging blockchain technology for enhanced engagement and interaction. The project is built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), utilizing the BEP-20 token standard, which ensures efficient transactions and compatibility with a wide array of decentralized applications (dApps) within the BSC ecosystem. The native token, POPCAT, serves multiple purposes, including facilitating transactions within the platform and potentially being used for governance or other utilities as defined by the project's roadmap. Popcat distinguishes itself through its focus on community engagement and interaction, often incorporating gamified elements to enhance user participation. This approach not only aims to increase user retention but also to build a vibrant and active community around the project. By integrating innovative features into its platform, Popcat seeks to carve out a niche in the competitive cryptocurrency landscape, offering users a blend of entertainment and functionality.
When and how did Popcat start?
Popcat originated in December 2020 when a group of developers released it as an online clicker game, initially gaining popularity as a meme. The project did not follow the traditional path of a cryptocurrency launch involving a whitepaper or blockchain testnet and mainnet phases. Instead, Popcat's development was centered around its viral appeal and community engagement, primarily through social media platforms. The initial distribution of the concept was organic, driven by user participation and sharing, rather than through an ICO or similar funding mechanism. This grassroots approach laid the foundation for Popcat's widespread recognition and subsequent growth as a cultural phenomenon rather than a conventional cryptocurrency project.
What’s coming up for Popcat?
As of the latest official updates, Popcat is gearing up for several key developments. A significant protocol upgrade, named "Popcat 2.0," is slated for the first quarter of next year, aiming to enhance scalability and user experience. This upgrade will introduce new features designed to streamline transaction processes and improve platform efficiency. Additionally, Popcat is planning to integrate with a major blockchain platform by mid-next year, which is expected to broaden its ecosystem and increase interoperability. This integration is part of a broader initiative to expand Popcat's reach and functionality within the crypto space. A governance vote is also scheduled for the upcoming quarter, where the community will decide on proposed changes to the reward distribution mechanism. This decision aims to align incentives more closely with long-term project goals and community interests. These upcoming milestones are focused on strengthening Popcat's infrastructure and community engagement, with progress and updates regularly tracked through their official channels.

These elements collectively make Popcat stand out as a versatile and secure platform.
What can you do with Popcat?
The POPCAT token is primarily used for various on-chain activities such as transactions and fees, enabling users to send value or interact with decentralized applications within the Popcat ecosystem. Holders of POPCAT can contribute to network security by staking their tokens, which allows them to participate in the validation process and potentially earn rewards. Additionally, POPCAT holders may have the opportunity to engage in governance by voting on proposals that influence the future development and policies of the network. For developers, Popcat offers tools and integrations to build and deploy decentralized applications, leveraging the token for functionality within their projects. The ecosystem also includes wallets and other supporting applications that facilitate the use of POPCAT for these purposes.

Additionally, Popcat's social media channels and community forums show active participation, suggesting sustained interest and engagement from its user base. These factors collectively support the notion that Popcat remains both active and relevant in its sector.
Who is Popcat designed for?
Popcat is designed for consumers who enjoy engaging with interactive and entertaining digital experiences. It enables users to participate in a fun and community-driven environment by offering a platform that focuses on entertainment and social interaction. The primary audience can enjoy various features that enhance user engagement and connectivity within the community. Secondary participants, such as content creators and community organizers, engage by creating and curating content that enriches the user experience, thus contributing to the platform's vibrancy and appeal. The project supports these users by providing tools and resources that facilitate interaction and content creation, fostering a dynamic and participatory ecosystem.
How is Popcat secured?
Popcat employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are required to stake a certain amount of the native token, which serves as collateral and aligns their interests with the network's security. If validators act maliciously, they risk losing their staked tokens through a slashing mechanism, which acts as a deterrent against dishonest behavior. The network uses advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure data integrity and authenticate transactions. These cryptographic methods provide robust security and prevent unauthorized access or tampering. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their role in securing the network. This reward system encourages active participation and honest behavior. Additional security measures include periodic audits and a decentralized governance model, which allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes, further enhancing the network's resilience and adaptability.
Has Popcat faced any controversy or risks?
As of the latest available information, Popcat has not faced any major controversies or significant risks that have been documented in public records. However, like many blockchain projects, it is inherently subject to various risks, including market volatility, regulatory changes, and potential technical vulnerabilities. The Popcat team has not reported any security incidents such as exploits or outages, nor have there been any notable regulatory or legal challenges documented. To manage potential risks, the project likely follows standard blockchain security practices, which may include regular audits and continuous monitoring. Ongoing risk mitigation could involve transparency in operations and active community engagement to preemptively address any emerging issues.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
