What is Level?
Level (LVL) is a blockchain project launched in 2021, designed to facilitate decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. It aims to provide users with a platform for managing their digital assets efficiently while promoting financial inclusion. The project operates on its own Layer 1 blockchain, which enables fast and secure transactions, as well as the execution of smart contracts. The native token, LVL, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking, and governance, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes related to the platform's development and upgrades. Level distinguishes itself through its focus on user-friendly interfaces and accessibility, making it suitable for both novice and experienced users. This emphasis on usability, combined with its robust technological foundation, positions Level as a significant player in the evolving DeFi landscape.
When and how did Level start?
Level originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. Following this, the testnet was launched in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. The mainnet launch occurred in September 2021, marking the project's transition to a fully operational blockchain environment. Early development focused on creating a robust ecosystem that supports decentralized applications and enhances user engagement through innovative features. The initial distribution of Level tokens took place via an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in August 2021, which helped raise funds for further development and marketing efforts. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Level's growth and its subsequent integration into the broader blockchain landscape.
What’s coming up for Level?
According to official updates, Level is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing scalability and performance, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will improve user experience and transaction efficiency. Additionally, Level is working on integrating with several strategic partners, with these collaborations anticipated to be finalized by mid-2024. These initiatives are designed to bolster the ecosystem and expand the utility of Level's platform. Progress on these milestones will be tracked through their official roadmap, ensuring transparency and community engagement as they move forward with these developments.

Overall, the LVL token is designed to empower users, holders, and developers alike, fostering a vibrant and functional ecosystem that supports a wide range of activities.
Is Level still active or relevant?
Level remains active through its recent governance proposal announced in September 2023, which focused on enhancing community engagement and expanding its ecosystem. The development team is currently prioritizing improvements to the platform's scalability and user experience, ensuring that it remains competitive in the evolving crypto landscape. Level has maintained a presence on several major exchanges, with consistent trading volume indicating ongoing interest from investors. Additionally, the project has established partnerships with various DeFi platforms, facilitating integrations that enhance its utility and adoption within the broader blockchain ecosystem. These indicators support its continued relevance within the decentralized finance sector, as Level adapts to market demands and continues to innovate. The active community involvement and ongoing development efforts further solidify its position as a noteworthy player in the crypto space.
Who is Level designed for?
Level is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to create and utilize decentralized applications and services. It provides essential tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the development process and enhance user engagement. Primary users, such as developers, can leverage Level's infrastructure to build innovative solutions that address various needs within the blockchain ecosystem. Consumers benefit from the platform's features, which allow for seamless interactions with decentralized applications, enhancing their overall experience. Secondary participants, including validators and liquidity providers, engage with Level through staking and governance mechanisms. This involvement not only supports the network's security and functionality but also contributes to the growth and sustainability of the broader ecosystem. By catering to these diverse user groups, Level fosters a collaborative environment that drives innovation and adoption in the blockchain space.
How is Level secured?
Level uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to propose and validate new blocks based on the amount of Level tokens they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This staking process not only secures the network but also incentivizes participants to act honestly, as they have a financial stake in the system. The protocol employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are valid and tamper-proof. Incentives are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network, while slashing penalties are imposed on those who act maliciously or fail to validate transactions properly. Additional security measures include regular audits and a robust governance framework, which help maintain the network's resilience and adaptability to potential threats.
Has Level faced any controversy or risks?
Level has faced regulatory scrutiny regarding its compliance with financial regulations in various jurisdictions, particularly concerning its token offerings and trading practices. In mid-2023, the project received inquiries from regulatory bodies about its adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements. The team responded by enhancing its compliance framework, implementing stricter KYC protocols, and engaging with legal advisors to ensure alignment with local laws. Additionally, Level has encountered technical risks associated with smart contract vulnerabilities. In early 2023, a potential exploit was identified in one of its decentralized applications. The development team promptly addressed the issue by deploying a patch and conducting a thorough security audit to prevent future occurrences. Ongoing risks for Level include market volatility and the evolving regulatory landscape, which are mitigated through continuous development practices, regular security audits, and transparent communication with the community regarding compliance efforts and risk management strategies.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
