Hooked Protocol (HOOK)
What is Hooked Protocol?
Hooked Protocol (HOOK) is a blockchain project launched in 2022, designed to facilitate user engagement and onboarding in decentralized applications (dApps) through gamified experiences. The protocol aims to simplify the process of learning about Web3 technologies and incentivizing users to participate in the ecosystem. Operating on the Ethereum blockchain, Hooked Protocol utilizes a unique model that combines elements of social networking and decentralized finance (DeFi). Its native token, HOOK, serves multiple purposes, including governance, staking, and rewarding users for their participation in the platform's activities. What sets Hooked Protocol apart is its focus on creating an accessible entry point for users unfamiliar with blockchain technology, leveraging gamification to enhance user experience and retention. This innovative approach positions Hooked Protocol as a significant player in the effort to bridge the gap between traditional internet users and the emerging Web3 landscape.
When and how did Hooked Protocol start?
Hooked Protocol originated in November 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in March 2022, allowing developers and early users to engage with the platform and provide feedback. Following the successful testnet phase, Hooked Protocol transitioned to its mainnet launch in July 2022, marking its official entry into the blockchain ecosystem. Early development focused on creating an engaging platform that integrates learning and earning mechanisms within the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. The token's initial distribution occurred through a combination of a fair launch and an airdrop in August 2022, aimed at incentivizing community participation and fostering a user base. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Hooked Protocol's growth and the development of its ecosystem, positioning it as a notable player in the blockchain landscape.

Overall, the Hooked Protocol provides a comprehensive environment for users, holders, validators, and developers to engage with blockchain technology effectively.
Is Hooked Protocol still active or relevant?
Hooked Protocol remains active through a series of recent developments, including a notable upgrade announced in September 2023, which introduced new features aimed at enhancing user engagement and platform functionality. The project continues to focus on expanding its ecosystem, particularly in the areas of decentralized finance (DeFi) and user onboarding experiences. As of October 2023, Hooked Protocol has maintained a presence on several major trading platforms, indicating ongoing market interest and liquidity. The project also engages with its community through active governance proposals, with recent votes taking place in August 2023, reflecting a commitment to decentralized decision-making. Additionally, Hooked Protocol has established partnerships with various blockchain projects, further integrating its services within the broader crypto ecosystem. These indicators support its continued relevance in the DeFi sector, demonstrating that Hooked Protocol is not only active but also evolving to meet the needs of its users.
Who is Hooked Protocol designed for?
Hooked Protocol is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to engage with decentralized applications and services in a user-friendly manner. The platform aims to simplify the onboarding process for new users into the Web3 ecosystem, allowing them to access various decentralized finance (DeFi) and gaming applications seamlessly. It provides essential tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the development of applications that enhance user experience and interaction. Secondary participants such as validators and creators can engage with Hooked Protocol through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a vibrant ecosystem where developers can innovate while consumers benefit from enhanced access to decentralized services. Overall, Hooked Protocol serves as a bridge between traditional users and the decentralized world, promoting broader adoption of blockchain technology.
How is Hooked Protocol secured?
Hooked Protocol employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, participants can become validators by staking a certain amount of the native token, which incentivizes them to act honestly, as their staked assets are at risk. The protocol utilizes cryptographic techniques such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. To further align incentives, Hooked Protocol incorporates a reward system for validators, providing them with staking rewards for their participation in the network. Additionally, the protocol implements slashing penalties for malicious behavior, which serves as a deterrent against attempts to compromise the network's security. The network's resilience is bolstered by regular security audits and governance processes that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making, ensuring that the protocol can adapt to emerging threats and maintain robust security measures.
Has Hooked Protocol faced any controversy or risks?
Hooked Protocol has faced some risks primarily related to the broader challenges in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space, including market volatility and regulatory scrutiny. As a project that operates in the decentralized finance (DeFi) and gaming sectors, it is subject to risks associated with smart contract vulnerabilities and potential exploits. The team has implemented security measures such as regular audits and code reviews to mitigate these risks. In terms of community governance, there have been discussions regarding the direction of the project and its tokenomics, which can lead to disputes among stakeholders. The team has addressed these through community engagement initiatives and governance proposals to ensure that user feedback is considered in decision-making processes. Ongoing risks for Hooked Protocol include market fluctuations and evolving regulatory landscapes, which are common in the crypto industry. The project continues to focus on transparency and proactive communication with its community to manage these risks effectively.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
