What is Dark Eclipse?
Dark Eclipse (DARK) is a blockchain-based gaming platform launched in 2018 by a team of developers focused on creating an immersive gaming experience. The project aims to integrate blockchain technology into the gaming industry, allowing players to own, trade, and monetize in-game assets securely. Operating on its own blockchain, Dark Eclipse utilizes a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, which enables efficient transaction processing and scalability. The native token, DARK, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including facilitating in-game transactions, staking for rewards, and governance, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes regarding the platform's development. Dark Eclipse stands out for its unique approach to combining gaming with decentralized finance (DeFi) elements, positioning it as a pioneer in the blockchain gaming space. By enabling true ownership of digital assets and fostering a player-driven economy, Dark Eclipse aims to redefine the gaming experience and empower players in a way that traditional gaming platforms do not.
When and how did Dark Eclipse start?
Dark Eclipse originated in March 2018 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project aimed to create a decentralized gaming platform utilizing blockchain technology. Following the whitepaper release, the testnet was launched in June 2018, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. The mainnet launch occurred in December 2018, marking the project's transition to a fully operational state. Early development focused on establishing a robust ecosystem for decentralized gaming, emphasizing user engagement and community participation. The initial distribution of the Dark Eclipse token took place through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in April 2018, which helped fund the project's development and promote its adoption. These foundational steps set the stage for Dark Eclipse's growth and its ongoing efforts to innovate within the gaming sector.

Who is Dark Eclipse designed for?
Dark Eclipse is designed for developers and users, enabling them to create and engage with decentralized applications (dApps) in a secure and scalable environment. It provides essential tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the development and integration of blockchain solutions. Secondary participants such as validators and liquidity providers engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative ecosystem allows developers to innovate while users benefit from enhanced functionalities and services, fostering a vibrant community around the Dark Eclipse platform.
How is Dark Eclipse secured?
Dark Eclipse employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. This model allows participants to stake their tokens, which are then used to secure the network and validate transactions. Validators are selected to create new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to lock up as collateral. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, including Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards the network against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are valid and tamper-proof. Incentives for validators are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed for successfully validating transactions. Additionally, the network incorporates slashing mechanisms, where a portion of a validator's staked tokens can be forfeited if they act maliciously or fail to perform their duties adequately. To enhance security, Dark Eclipse undergoes regular audits and maintains governance processes that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making. The diversity of client implementations further contributes to the resilience of the network, ensuring it can withstand potential vulnerabilities.
Has Dark Eclipse faced any controversy or risks?
Dark Eclipse has faced risks primarily related to its technical infrastructure and the broader blockchain environment. In early 2023, the project encountered a security incident involving a vulnerability in its smart contract code, which raised concerns about potential exploits. The development team responded promptly by conducting a thorough audit of the code, identifying the vulnerability, and deploying a patch to mitigate the risk. Additionally, they implemented a bug bounty program to encourage community members to report any further issues. Ongoing risks for Dark Eclipse include market volatility, regulatory scrutiny, and potential technical challenges inherent in blockchain technology. The team has committed to transparency and regular updates to the community regarding security measures and risk management strategies. They also maintain a proactive approach to audits and community engagement to ensure the platform's integrity and user trust.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
