ChainSwap (CSWAP)
What is ChainSwap?
ChainSwap (CSWAP) is a decentralized cross-chain asset swap protocol launched in 2021. It was created to facilitate seamless asset transfers between different blockchain networks, addressing the challenges of interoperability in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. The project operates on a multi-chain architecture, enabling users to swap tokens across various blockchains without the need for centralized exchanges. The native token, CSWAP, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, governance participation, and staking rewards. Users can stake CSWAP tokens to earn rewards and participate in decision-making processes regarding protocol upgrades and changes. ChainSwap stands out for its focus on cross-chain functionality, allowing users to easily move assets between Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and other networks. This unique feature positions ChainSwap as a significant player in the DeFi landscape, promoting greater liquidity and accessibility for users across different blockchain ecosystems.
When and how did ChainSwap start?
ChainSwap originated in April 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project aimed to facilitate cross-chain token swaps and enhance interoperability between different blockchain ecosystems. Following the whitepaper release, ChainSwap launched its testnet in May 2021, allowing developers and early users to experiment with the platform's functionalities. The mainnet went live in June 2021, marking the project's transition to a fully operational state. Early development focused on creating a user-friendly interface and robust infrastructure to support seamless token swaps across various blockchains. The initial distribution of the ChainSwap token (CSWAP) occurred through a fair launch model in July 2021, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established ChainSwap's growth trajectory and laid the groundwork for its ecosystem development.
What’s coming up for ChainSwap?
According to official updates, ChainSwap is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing cross-chain functionality, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade is focused on improving transaction speeds and reducing fees, which are critical for user experience and scalability. Additionally, ChainSwap is set to launch a new decentralized application (dApp) that will facilitate easier asset swaps between different blockchain networks, with a targeted release in Q2 2024. The project is also actively pursuing partnerships with various DeFi platforms to expand its ecosystem, with announcements expected in the coming months. These initiatives aim to bolster ChainSwap's position in the market and enhance its utility for users. Progress on these milestones will be tracked through their official roadmap and development channels.

Who is ChainSwap designed for?
ChainSwap is designed for developers and users, enabling them to facilitate seamless cross-chain asset transfers and liquidity swaps. It provides essential tools and resources, including APIs and SDKs, to support the development of decentralized applications and enhance user experience. Primary users, such as developers, can leverage ChainSwap's infrastructure to create innovative solutions that connect different blockchain ecosystems. This capability allows them to build applications that require interoperability between various chains, thereby expanding their reach and functionality. Secondary participants, including liquidity providers and validators, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a robust ecosystem where all participants can benefit from enhanced liquidity and diverse asset management options. Overall, ChainSwap aims to empower its users by simplifying cross-chain interactions and promoting a more interconnected blockchain landscape.
How is ChainSwap secured?
ChainSwap employs a decentralized consensus mechanism that facilitates secure cross-chain transactions. The network utilizes a combination of Proof of Stake (PoS) and a unique validation process where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the blockchain. Validators are selected based on their stake in the network, incentivizing them to act honestly to protect their investments. For cryptographic security, ChainSwap implements advanced cryptographic techniques, including Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards user transactions and prevents unauthorized access. Incentive mechanisms are built into the protocol, rewarding validators with staking rewards for their participation in the network. Additionally, there are slashing penalties for validators who act maliciously or fail to perform their duties, which helps to align their interests with the overall health of the network. ChainSwap also incorporates regular audits and governance processes to enhance security and resilience, ensuring that the network can adapt to potential vulnerabilities and maintain robust operational standards.
Has ChainSwap faced any controversy or risks?
ChainSwap has faced controversy related to security risks, particularly concerning its cross-chain bridge functionality. In July 2021, the project experienced a significant exploit that resulted in the loss of funds due to vulnerabilities in its smart contracts. The team responded by conducting a thorough audit of the affected contracts and implementing necessary patches to enhance security measures. They also communicated transparently with the community regarding the incident and the steps taken to prevent future occurrences. Additionally, ChainSwap has encountered regulatory scrutiny, as many blockchain projects do, due to the evolving landscape of cryptocurrency regulations. The team has been proactive in addressing compliance issues and ensuring that their operations align with legal requirements. Ongoing risks for ChainSwap include market volatility, potential technical vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes. To mitigate these risks, the project emphasizes regular security audits, community engagement, and transparent communication about their development practices and risk management strategies.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
