Wen (WEN)
What is Wen?
Wen (WEN) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2021, designed to facilitate decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. It aims to provide users with a platform for seamless transactions and financial services without the need for traditional intermediaries. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that enhances security and efficiency. Its native token, WEN, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and governance participation, allowing holders to influence the development and direction of the project. Wen stands out for its focus on user-friendly interfaces and accessibility, making DeFi services more approachable for a broader audience. This emphasis on usability, combined with its robust technological foundation, positions Wen as a significant player in the evolving landscape of decentralized finance.
When and how did Wen start?
Wen originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to explore its functionalities and provide feedback. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking its official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform that aimed to enhance user engagement and community participation. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Wen's growth and the development of its ecosystem, positioning it for future advancements in the decentralized finance space.

Notable partnerships with other blockchain projects continue to enhance Wen's ecosystem, further solidifying its relevance in the DeFi sector. These indicators collectively support Wen's sustained activity and importance within the cryptocurrency landscape.
Who is Wen designed for?
Wen is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to engage with a decentralized ecosystem that facilitates various applications and transactions. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to support development and enhance user experience. Developers can leverage these tools to create innovative applications, while consumers benefit from seamless access to services and functionalities within the platform. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a vibrant community where all participants can thrive, driving the growth and sustainability of the Wen ecosystem. By catering to both primary and secondary user groups, Wen aims to create a comprehensive platform that meets diverse needs and encourages active participation.
How is Wen secured?
Wen employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators confirm transactions and maintain the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are required to lock up a certain amount of Wen tokens as collateral, which aligns their financial interests with the security of the network. The protocol utilizes cryptographic techniques such as Ed25519 for authentication and data integrity, ensuring that transactions are securely signed and verified. To further incentivize honest behavior, Wen incorporates a staking rewards system, where validators earn rewards for their participation in the network. Conversely, there are slashing penalties in place that can result in the loss of staked tokens if validators act maliciously or fail to fulfill their responsibilities. Additional security measures include regular audits and a governance framework that allows token holders to participate in decision-making processes, enhancing the network's resilience. The use of multiple client implementations also contributes to the robustness of the system, reducing the risk of vulnerabilities associated with a single point of failure.
Has Wen faced any controversy or risks?
Wen has faced regulatory scrutiny regarding its compliance with local laws in various jurisdictions, particularly concerning its token distribution and marketing practices. In early 2023, the project was subject to inquiries from regulatory bodies, which raised concerns about potential violations of securities laws. The team responded by enhancing their compliance framework, including legal consultations and adjustments to their token sale structure to align with regulatory expectations. Additionally, Wen has encountered technical risks associated with smart contract vulnerabilities, which were identified during an independent security audit. The team promptly addressed these issues by deploying patches and conducting a follow-up audit to ensure the integrity of the platform. Ongoing risks for Wen include market volatility and potential future regulatory changes, which are mitigated through proactive community engagement, transparent communication, and regular security audits to maintain user trust and platform stability.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
