What is Propy?
Propy (PRO) is a blockchain-based real estate platform launched in 2017 by a team led by Natalia Karayaneva. It was created to simplify and streamline the process of buying and selling real estate across borders, addressing issues such as inefficiency, lack of transparency, and high transaction costs in traditional real estate transactions. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing smart contracts to facilitate secure and automated transactions. Its native token, PRO, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including payment for transaction fees, participation in governance, and incentivizing users to engage with the platform. Propy stands out for its innovative approach to real estate transactions, enabling users to purchase properties using cryptocurrency and providing a decentralized platform for managing property titles. This positions Propy as a significant player in the intersection of real estate and blockchain technology, aiming to enhance accessibility and efficiency in property transactions globally.
When and how did Propy start?
Propy originated in 2017 when the founding team, led by Natalia Karayaneva, released its whitepaper outlining the vision for a blockchain-based real estate platform. The project aimed to simplify international real estate transactions by leveraging blockchain technology. Propy launched its mainnet in 2018, marking its initial public availability and allowing users to conduct property transactions on the blockchain. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform that facilitates property sales and ownership transfers, integrating smart contracts to streamline the process. The initial distribution of Propy tokens occurred through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in 2017, which helped raise funds for the project's development and operational needs. These foundational steps established Propy's framework for growth and its role in the evolving real estate market.

Who is Propy designed for?
Propy is designed for real estate professionals, buyers, and sellers, enabling them to streamline property transactions through blockchain technology. It provides tools and resources, including a user-friendly platform for listing properties, conducting transactions, and managing documentation securely. The platform aims to simplify the buying and selling process, making it more efficient and transparent. Secondary participants include developers and institutions interested in integrating blockchain solutions into their real estate operations. They can engage through APIs and SDKs that facilitate the development of custom applications or services that leverage Propy's infrastructure. This involvement contributes to the broader ecosystem by enhancing the functionality and reach of Propy's offerings, ultimately promoting a more decentralized and accessible real estate market.
How is Propy secured?
Propy utilizes a blockchain-based platform that employs a consensus mechanism to ensure the security and integrity of its transactions. The network operates on a decentralized model where validators confirm transactions and maintain the overall integrity of the blockchain. This consensus mechanism is designed to facilitate transaction finality and prevent double-spending. To secure transactions and authenticate users, Propy employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA). This ensures that all transactions are verifiable and tamper-proof, safeguarding the data integrity of property records. Incentives for participants in the Propy network are aligned through a reward system for validators, which encourages active participation and honest behavior. Additionally, mechanisms such as slashing may be implemented to penalize malicious actions, further enhancing the network's security. Propy also emphasizes resilience through various safeguards, including regular audits and governance processes that involve community participation. This multi-faceted approach to security contributes to a robust and trustworthy platform for real estate transactions.
Has Propy faced any controversy or risks?
Propy has faced regulatory challenges, particularly concerning compliance with real estate laws and cryptocurrency regulations. In 2018, the company was involved in a notable transaction that utilized blockchain technology for a real estate purchase, which drew scrutiny regarding the legality of such transactions under existing property laws. The team addressed these concerns by engaging with legal experts to ensure compliance with local regulations and by adapting their platform to meet legal standards. Additionally, Propy has navigated risks related to market volatility and the evolving landscape of cryptocurrency regulations. To mitigate these risks, the project has implemented transparency measures, including regular updates on compliance efforts and engagement with regulatory bodies. Ongoing risks include potential changes in legislation that could impact the use of blockchain in real estate, which Propy continues to monitor closely to ensure its operations remain compliant and secure.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
