When and how did Paxe start?
Paxe originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features. Following successful testing, Paxe transitioned to its mainnet launch in September 2021, marking its official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a robust ecosystem for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, emphasizing scalability and security. The token's initial distribution occurred through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in October 2021, which facilitated funding for further development and community engagement. These foundational steps established Paxe's infrastructure and set the stage for its growth within the cryptocurrency landscape.
What’s coming up for Paxe?
According to official updates, Paxe is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade scheduled for Q1 2024, aimed at enhancing transaction speed and overall network efficiency. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will improve user experience and scalability. Additionally, Paxe is working on integrating with several decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, with partnerships targeted for completion by mid-2024. These initiatives are designed to expand Paxe's ecosystem and increase its utility within the crypto space. Who is Paxe designed for?
Paxe is designed for a diverse audience, primarily targeting consumers and institutions seeking efficient payment solutions and utility in their transactions. It enables users to engage in seamless digital transactions, providing a platform that facilitates easy access to financial services. Paxe offers various tools and resources, including user-friendly wallets and APIs, to enhance accessibility and usability for everyday users. Secondary participants, such as developers and validators, are also integral to the Paxe ecosystem. Developers can leverage Paxe’s SDKs to build applications that utilize its infrastructure, while validators contribute to network security and transaction verification. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and growth within the ecosystem, allowing all participants to benefit from Paxe's capabilities and contribute to its ongoing development.
How is Paxe secured?
Paxe employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected based on the amount of Paxe they stake, incentivizing them to act honestly to protect their investment. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. To align incentives, Paxe incorporates a reward system for validators, providing them with staking rewards for their participation in the network. Additionally, the protocol includes slashing mechanisms that penalize validators for malicious behavior or failure to perform their duties, thereby discouraging any attempts at fraud or negligence. Paxe also emphasizes security through regular audits and a robust governance framework, which allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes. This multi-faceted approach to security, combining cryptographic measures, incentive alignment, and governance safeguards, contributes to the overall resilience and reliability of the Paxe network.
Has Paxe faced any controversy or risks?
Paxe has faced regulatory scrutiny related to compliance with financial regulations in various jurisdictions, particularly concerning anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements. In mid-2022, the project was subject to an investigation by financial authorities, which raised concerns about its adherence to these regulations. The Paxe team responded by enhancing their compliance framework, implementing stricter KYC protocols, and increasing transparency in their operations. Additionally, there have been reports of minor technical vulnerabilities in the Paxe platform, which were addressed through timely software updates and security patches. The team also initiated a bug bounty program to encourage community participation in identifying potential security issues. Ongoing risks for Paxe include market volatility and evolving regulatory landscapes, which are mitigated by continuous development practices, regular audits, and a commitment to transparency in their operations.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
