What is Melody?
Melody (MELODY) is a blockchain-based project launched in 2023, designed to enhance the music industry by providing a decentralized platform for artists and fans. Its primary purpose is to facilitate direct interactions between creators and consumers, enabling artists to monetize their work without intermediaries. The project operates on a proprietary blockchain that supports smart contracts, allowing for transparent royalty distribution and ownership verification. The native token, MELODY, serves multiple functions within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and governance, empowering token holders to participate in decision-making processes related to the platform's development. Melody stands out for its focus on the music sector, integrating features such as digital rights management and fan engagement tools, which position it as a significant player in the evolving landscape of digital content distribution. By addressing the challenges faced by artists in traditional music models, Melody aims to create a more equitable environment for music creation and consumption.
When and how did Melody start?
Melody originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking its official entry into the blockchain ecosystem. Early development focused on creating a robust platform for decentralized applications, emphasizing scalability and user experience. The initial distribution of Melody tokens occurred through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in October 2021, which aimed to raise funds for further development and marketing efforts. These foundational steps set the stage for Melody's growth and the establishment of its community and ecosystem.
What’s coming up for Melody?
According to official updates, Melody is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade scheduled for Q1 2024, aimed at enhancing scalability and user experience. This upgrade will introduce new features designed to improve transaction speeds and reduce fees, making the platform more accessible to users. Additionally, Melody is set to launch a new integration with a major decentralized finance (DeFi) platform in Q2 2024, which will expand its ecosystem and provide users with more opportunities for yield generation. These milestones are part of Melody's ongoing efforts to enhance its functionality and user engagement, with progress being tracked through their official roadmap.
What makes Melody stand out?
Melody distinguishes itself through its innovative Layer 2 (L2) architecture, which enhances transaction throughput and reduces latency while maintaining a high level of security. This design leverages a unique consensus mechanism that combines proof-of-stake with sharding, allowing for efficient data processing and scalability. Additionally, Melody incorporates advanced privacy features, ensuring that user transactions remain confidential while still being verifiable on the blockchain. The ecosystem is enriched by strategic partnerships with key players in the blockchain space, facilitating cross-chain interoperability and expanding its usability across various platforms. Melody also offers a robust set of developer tools, including SDKs and APIs, which streamline the integration process for new applications and services. These indicators support Melody's continued relevance within the decentralized finance sector, as it adapts to market demands and fosters community engagement.
Who is Melody designed for?
Melody is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to create and utilize decentralized applications and services. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate development and integration into various platforms. This allows developers to build innovative solutions while consumers can access a range of services powered by Melody's infrastructure. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a vibrant ecosystem where all participants can thrive, ensuring that Melody remains relevant and functional for its intended user base. By catering to both primary and secondary audiences, Melody aims to create a comprehensive platform that meets diverse needs within the blockchain space.
How is Melody secured?
Melody utilizes a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to create new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This incentivizes participants to act honestly, as their staked assets can be slashed or penalized for malicious behavior. The protocol employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards transactions against tampering and unauthorized access. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. This encourages active engagement and supports the overall security of the blockchain. Additionally, Melody implements governance mechanisms that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes, further enhancing the network's resilience. Regular audits and a focus on multi-client diversity also contribute to the robustness of Melody's security framework.
Has Melody faced any controversy or risks?
Melody has faced regulatory scrutiny related to compliance with local financial laws, particularly concerning its token distribution and marketing practices, which were flagged in early 2023. The team responded by enhancing their compliance framework, engaging legal advisors to ensure adherence to regulations, and implementing a more transparent communication strategy with their community. Additionally, there were reports of a minor security incident in mid-2023 involving a vulnerability in their smart contract, which was quickly addressed through a patch that was deployed within 48 hours. The team also initiated a bug bounty program to encourage community involvement in identifying potential vulnerabilities. Ongoing risks for Melody include market volatility and potential regulatory changes that could impact its operations. To mitigate these risks, the project has committed to regular audits and maintaining open lines of communication with regulatory bodies, ensuring that they adapt to evolving legal landscapes while prioritizing user security and trust.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
