Immutable (DARA)
What is Immutable?
Immutable is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, launched in 2021 by Immutable, a company focused on blockchain gaming and digital assets. It was created to address the challenges of high transaction fees and slow processing times on the Ethereum network, particularly for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and gaming applications. The project operates on the Immutable X protocol, which utilizes a zero-knowledge rollup technology to enable fast and secure transactions without compromising the security of the Ethereum blockchain. This allows users to trade and mint NFTs instantly and with zero gas fees, making it particularly attractive for developers and gamers. The native token, IMX, serves multiple roles within the ecosystem, including governance, staking, and as a utility token for transaction fees. Immutable stands out for its focus on the gaming sector, partnerships with major game developers, and its commitment to creating a user-friendly experience for NFT transactions, positioning it as a significant player in the blockchain gaming and NFT markets.
When and how did Immutable start?
Immutable originated in October 2018 when the founding team, which includes co-founders James Ferguson and Robbie Ferguson, released its whitepaper detailing the vision for a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum focused on gaming and NFTs. The project launched its testnet in June 2020, allowing developers to experiment with the platform's capabilities before its full public release. Immutable X, the mainnet, was officially launched in November 2021, marking its initial public availability and enabling users to trade NFTs with zero gas fees and instant transactions. Early development aimed to create a scalable and user-friendly environment for developers and gamers, emphasizing the importance of a seamless experience in the blockchain gaming space. The initial distribution of the IMX token occurred through a combination of private sales and community incentives, establishing a foundation for Immutable's growth and ecosystem development.
What’s coming up for Immutable?
According to official updates, Immutable is preparing for the launch of Immutable zkEVM, which is scheduled for Q4 2023. This upgrade aims to enhance scalability and reduce transaction costs, making it easier for developers to build on the platform. Additionally, Immutable is focusing on expanding its ecosystem through partnerships and integrations with various gaming studios and platforms, with several collaborations expected to be announced in the coming months. These initiatives are designed to improve user experience and broaden the reach of Immutable's technology in the gaming and NFT sectors. Progress on these milestones will be tracked through their official channels and roadmap updates.

Who is Immutable designed for?
Immutable is designed for developers and gamers, enabling them to create and interact with blockchain-based games and applications. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate the development of scalable and user-friendly gaming experiences on its Layer 2 blockchain. Primary users, such as game developers, benefit from Immutable's infrastructure that allows for seamless integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and other blockchain features into their games. This empowers them to enhance user engagement and create new monetization strategies. Secondary participants, including gamers and collectors, engage with the platform through marketplaces and gaming ecosystems, where they can buy, sell, and trade digital assets. This interaction not only enriches their gaming experience but also fosters a vibrant community around blockchain gaming. Overall, Immutable aims to bridge the gap between traditional gaming and blockchain technology, making it accessible and beneficial for all involved.
How is Immutable secured?
Immutable employs a Layer 2 scaling solution built on Ethereum, utilizing a rollup security model to ensure transaction integrity and network security. This model allows for off-chain processing of transactions while maintaining the security guarantees of the Ethereum mainnet. Transactions are bundled and submitted to Ethereum, where they are confirmed by the underlying blockchain. The consensus mechanism relies on a combination of validity proofs and fraud proofs, ensuring that only valid transactions are processed. Validators, who are responsible for confirming transactions, are incentivized through a reward system that distributes fees generated from transactions. This creates a strong alignment of interests among participants. For cryptographic security, Immutable uses Ethereum's established cryptographic primitives, including ECDSA for digital signatures, ensuring secure authentication and data integrity. Additionally, the network incorporates governance mechanisms that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes, further enhancing its resilience. Regular audits and a bug bounty program are also in place to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities, contributing to the overall security of the Immutable ecosystem.
Has Immutable faced any controversy or risks?
Immutable has faced some controversy related to its governance and community engagement. In early 2023, there were discussions within the community regarding the centralization of decision-making processes, which led to concerns about the project's commitment to decentralization. The team addressed these concerns by enhancing community involvement in governance decisions and implementing more transparent communication channels. Additionally, Immutable has navigated risks associated with the broader regulatory landscape for blockchain and NFTs. As regulations evolve, the project has taken proactive measures to ensure compliance, including engaging with legal experts and adapting its policies to align with emerging guidelines. Ongoing risks for Immutable include market volatility and potential security vulnerabilities, common in the blockchain space. To mitigate these risks, the team emphasizes rigorous security audits, regular updates, and a commitment to maintaining transparency with its user base. These practices are part of Immutable's strategy to foster trust and resilience within its ecosystem.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
