Bytecoin (BCN)
What is Bytecoin?
Bytecoin (BCN) is a cryptocurrency designed for secure and private digital payments. As one of the first cryptocurrencies to implement the CryptoNote protocol, Bytecoin focuses on anonymity and untraceability, allowing users to conduct transactions without revealing their identities. This blockchain project operates on its own blockchain, providing a decentralized platform for peer-to-peer transactions. Bytecoin is primarily used for everyday transactions and aims to facilitate a more private and efficient financial ecosystem.
When and how did Bytecoin start?
Bytecoin (BCN) was launched in 2012 and is recognized as one of the first cryptocurrencies to implement the CryptoNote protocol, emphasizing privacy and anonymity. It was created by an anonymous team of developers, with its origins rooted in the desire to enhance transaction confidentiality. Bytecoin was initially listed on various exchanges, gaining traction within the crypto community, particularly for its focus on secure and untraceable transactions. The project has undergone significant developments, including updates to its protocol and community-driven initiatives to improve its functionality and usability in the ever-evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
What’s coming up for Bytecoin?
Bytecoin (BCN) is poised for significant advancements as it progresses through its roadmap, focusing on enhancing scalability and privacy features. The next upgrade aims to implement a more efficient consensus algorithm, which is expected to improve transaction speeds and reduce fees. Additionally, the Bytecoin community is actively working on expanding its ecosystem by collaborating with developers to create new use cases, particularly in decentralized finance (DeFi) and peer-to-peer transactions. These initiatives highlight Bytecoin's commitment to evolving as a leading privacy-centric cryptocurrency while fostering community engagement and innovation.
What makes Bytecoin stand out?
Bytecoin (BCN) is unique compared to other cryptocurrencies due to its implementation of the CryptoNote protocol, which offers enhanced privacy features through untraceable transactions and ring signatures. Its standout technology allows for faster transaction times and low fees, making it a practical option for real-world use cases like microtransactions. Additionally, Bytecoin's tokenomics includes a significant initial supply, which sets it apart in terms of availability and market dynamics.
What can you do with Bytecoin?
Bytecoin (BCN) is primarily used for fast and secure payments, enabling users to transact anonymously and efficiently. Additionally, it serves as a utility token within various DeFi apps, allowing for staking and participation in governance decisions. Bytecoin can also facilitate the creation and trading of NFTs, expanding its utility within the blockchain ecosystem.
Is Bytecoin still active or relevant?
Bytecoin (BCN) is currently active and still traded on several exchanges, although its trading volume has diminished over time. Development updates have been sporadic, raising concerns about its long-term viability, but there remains a small, dedicated community. Overall, while not considered an inactive project, its future may be uncertain due to limited developer engagement.
Who is Bytecoin designed for?
Bytecoin (BCN) is primarily built for privacy-conscious users and developers seeking a secure and anonymous means of digital transactions. Its target audience includes individuals looking for a decentralized cryptocurrency that emphasizes user privacy, as well as developers interested in leveraging its blockchain technology for innovative applications. The community of Bytecoin users values discretion and security in their financial interactions.
How is Bytecoin secured?
Bytecoin (BCN) secures its network through a Proof of Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, which relies on miners to validate transactions and add new blocks to the blockchain. This decentralized approach enhances network security by requiring significant computational power, while its unique CryptoNight algorithm provides additional protection against ASIC mining, promoting a more equitable validator setup.
Has Bytecoin faced any controversy or risks?
Bytecoin (BCN) has faced significant controversy due to its initial distribution, which some critics argue favored early investors, raising concerns about centralization and fairness. Additionally, the coin has experienced extreme volatility, posing risks for investors, and has been associated with security incidents that have led to hacks and the potential for rug pulls in the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem. Legal issues surrounding its regulatory status further complicate its adoption and market perception.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
