Ex-FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried denied sentencing delay, faces 110 years in prison as trial concludes just before FTX's first anniversary.

Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried won't be getting a sentencing delay, Judge Lewis Kaplan decided on Wednesday.

Bankman-Fried's lawyers asked for more time to prepare for sentencing and another possible trial but the request was denied. He faces up to 110 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 28.

The lawyers wanted extra time for gathering materials and preparing for another set of charges. These charges, initially dropped, involve Bankman-Fried allegedly giving about $100 million to politicians.

US Attorney General Damian Williams is pursuing these charges, despite them being dropped earlier due to extradition issues from the Bahamas.

The defense argued that sentencing should wait until these new charges are resolved, but Judge Kaplan disagreed, noting they had enough time to prepare.

Bankman-Fried's high-profile trial took place in New York, with a guilty verdict reached just before the first anniversary of FTX's collapse.
