Bittrex to shut down by Dec 4; urges users to withdraw funds following U.S. bankruptcy filing.

The cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex is closing down, and it is requesting that its users remove their funds as soon as possible. The closing date has been established on December 4. This comes after the company's US branch declared bankruptcy earlier this year.

In a statement, the exchange expressed apologies for the trouble given to its customers. Users are encouraged to remove their assets from the platform as soon as possible.

Oliver Lynch, CEO of Bittrex Global, previously stated that the exchange was open to people looking for a regulated digital asset platform outside of the United States.

Once a significant U.S. exchange, Bittrex's market share fell to less than 1% in 2021. The U.S. division was forced to file for bankruptcy in May due to Securities and Exchange Commission claims.
