The project operates on its own blockchain, leveraging a peer-to-peer network model that allows users to connect and share internet services securely. The native token, WNT, serves multiple functions within the Wicrypt ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking, and incentivizing users to provide internet access. This token is integral to the platform's operations, allowing users to earn rewards for sharing their Wi-Fi and facilitating seamless transactions within the network. Wicrypt stands out for its innovative approach to internet sharing, combining blockchain technology with a practical solution to enhance global connectivity. By empowering individuals to monetize their internet access, Wicrypt positions itself as a significant player in the effort to bridge the digital divide and promote greater internet accessibility worldwide.
When and how did Wicrypt start?
Wicrypt originated in September 2019 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in December 2019, allowing developers and early adopters to engage with the platform and provide feedback. This phase was crucial for refining the technology and user experience. Following the testnet, Wicrypt transitioned to its mainnet launch in March 2020, marking its official entry into the blockchain space and enabling users to utilize its decentralized Wi-Fi sharing services. The initial distribution of Wicrypt tokens occurred through a fair launch model in April 2020, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants and foster community involvement from the outset. These foundational steps established Wicrypt's ecosystem and set the stage for its growth in the decentralized internet space.
What’s coming up for Wicrypt?
According to official updates, Wicrypt is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing network scalability and performance, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will improve user experience and increase the overall efficiency of the platform. Holders can stake their tokens to help secure the network and may earn rewards for their contributions. Additionally, Wicrypt supports a decentralized marketplace where users can buy and sell internet access, creating a peer-to-peer network that enhances connectivity options. Developers can leverage Wicrypt's SDK to build applications that integrate with the platform, facilitating seamless user experiences and expanding the ecosystem. The platform also offers governance features, allowing token holders to participate in decision-making processes regarding network upgrades and policies. Overall, Wicrypt provides practical utilities for users, holders, and developers, fostering a collaborative environment for internet sharing and connectivity solutions.
Is Wicrypt still active or relevant?
Wicrypt remains active through a recent update announced in September 2023, which introduced enhancements to its decentralized Wi-Fi sharing platform. The development team is currently focusing on improving user experience and expanding its network capabilities. Wicrypt has also maintained its presence on several trading venues, indicating ongoing market engagement and liquidity. The project continues to foster partnerships within the decentralized internet ecosystem, which supports its relevance in the broader blockchain space. Additionally, Wicrypt's governance model allows for community involvement in decision-making, with recent proposals being actively discussed among stakeholders. These indicators collectively affirm Wicrypt's ongoing activity and relevance within the decentralized technology sector.
Who is Wicrypt designed for?
Wicrypt is designed for consumers and developers, enabling them to access decentralized internet services and create innovative applications. It provides tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate the development and integration of decentralized Wi-Fi networks. This allows users to share their internet connections while earning rewards, thereby promoting a more accessible and affordable internet experience. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. By fostering a collaborative ecosystem, Wicrypt aims to empower individuals and developers alike to leverage decentralized technology for enhanced connectivity and utility.
How is Wicrypt secured?
Wicrypt employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. This model requires validators to stake Wicrypt tokens, aligning their financial interests with the security of the network. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. Incentives for participants are structured through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their contributions to the network. To discourage malicious behavior, the system incorporates slashing penalties, which can result in the loss of staked tokens if validators act dishonestly or fail to perform their duties. Wicrypt also emphasizes security through regular audits and a robust governance framework, allowing token holders to participate in decision-making processes. This multi-faceted approach, combining cryptography, economic incentives, and governance safeguards, enhances the resilience and security of the Wicrypt network.
Has Wicrypt faced any controversy or risks?
Wicrypt has faced some risks primarily related to regulatory scrutiny and market volatility. As a decentralized network that allows users to share internet access, it operates in a space that can attract regulatory attention, particularly concerning compliance with local laws regarding internet service provision. The team has actively engaged with legal advisors to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and to mitigate potential risks. Additionally, like many blockchain projects, Wicrypt is subject to market fluctuations that can impact its token value and user engagement. The team has implemented measures to enhance transparency and maintain community trust, including regular updates and open communication channels. Ongoing risks include the potential for security vulnerabilities, as with any decentralized platform. Wicrypt addresses these through regular audits and a commitment to improving its security protocols. The project remains focused on developing robust governance practices to navigate these challenges effectively.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
