What is Wigl?
Wigl (WIGL) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2021, designed to facilitate decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. It aims to provide users with a platform for seamless transactions and financial services without the need for intermediaries. The project operates on a proprietary blockchain that utilizes a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, enabling efficient transaction processing and energy conservation. The native token, WIGL, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and governance participation, allowing holders to influence the development of the platform. Wigl distinguishes itself through its focus on user-friendly interfaces and integration with various DeFi applications, positioning it as a significant player in the evolving landscape of decentralized finance. Its commitment to enhancing accessibility and reducing barriers to entry for users makes it a noteworthy project in the crypto space.
When and how did Wigl start?
Wigl originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following successful testing, Wigl transitioned to its mainnet launch in September 2021, marking its official entry into the blockchain ecosystem. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform aimed at enhancing user engagement and community participation. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods like ICOs or IEOs. These foundational steps established Wigl's growth trajectory and laid the groundwork for its ecosystem development.
What’s coming up for Wigl?
According to official updates, Wigl is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade scheduled for Q1 2024, aimed at enhancing transaction efficiency and scalability. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will improve user experience and overall network performance. Additionally, Wigl is working on integrating with several decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, with partnerships targeted for completion in the first half of 2024. These initiatives are designed to expand Wigl's ecosystem and increase its utility within the blockchain space. Progress on these milestones will be tracked through their official roadmap and updates provided on their communication channels.
What makes Wigl stand out?
Wigl distinguishes itself through its innovative Layer 2 architecture, which enhances transaction throughput and reduces latency compared to traditional blockchain solutions. This design leverages state channels and rollups, allowing for faster and more efficient processing of transactions while maintaining a high level of security. Who is Wigl designed for?
Wigl is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to create and utilize decentralized applications effectively. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate development and enhance user experience. The platform aims to simplify the integration of blockchain technology into various applications, making it accessible for developers looking to innovate in the decentralized space. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a vibrant ecosystem where all participants can thrive, aligning their goals with the broader mission of Wigl to promote decentralized solutions and enhance user engagement in the blockchain landscape.
How is Wigl secured?
Wigl employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, participants can become validators by staking a certain amount of Wigl tokens, which not only secures the network but also aligns their financial interests with the health of the ecosystem. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Ed25519 for digital signatures, ensuring robust authentication and data integrity. This cryptography helps protect against unauthorized access and tampering of transaction data. To incentivize honest behavior, Wigl incorporates a system of staking rewards for validators who successfully confirm transactions. Conversely, there are slashing penalties for validators who act maliciously or fail to perform their duties, thereby discouraging any attempts at network manipulation. Additional security measures include regular audits and a governance framework that allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes, enhancing the overall resilience and trustworthiness of the network.
Has Wigl faced any controversy or risks?
Wigl has faced some controversy related to security vulnerabilities and community governance issues. In early 2023, a significant exploit was discovered in one of its smart contracts, leading to a temporary suspension of trading on several exchanges. The team promptly addressed the issue by deploying a patch to the affected contract and conducting a thorough audit to identify and rectify any additional vulnerabilities. They also initiated a bug bounty program to incentivize community members to report potential security flaws. Furthermore, there have been instances of community disputes regarding governance decisions, particularly around protocol upgrades and fund allocation. The Wigl team has worked to enhance transparency by implementing regular community updates and facilitating discussions through governance forums. Ongoing risks for Wigl include market volatility and regulatory scrutiny, which are common in the crypto space. The team mitigates these risks through continuous development practices, regular security audits, and maintaining open lines of communication with the community to foster trust and collaboration.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
