When and how did Regret start?
Regret originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking the project's transition to a fully operational blockchain. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform aimed at enhancing user experience and engagement within the crypto ecosystem. The initial distribution of the Regret token occurred through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in October 2021, which facilitated funding for further development and community building. These foundational steps established Regret's presence in the market and set the stage for its subsequent growth and ecosystem expansion.
What’s coming up for Regret?
According to official updates, Regret is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade planned for Q1 2024, aimed at enhancing scalability and user experience. This upgrade will introduce new features designed to improve transaction speeds and reduce fees, making the platform more accessible to users. Additionally, Regret is set to launch a strategic partnership with a leading blockchain analytics firm in Q2 2024, which will enhance its data capabilities and provide users with better insights into market trends. These milestones are part of Regret's ongoing commitment to improving its ecosystem and user engagement, with progress being tracked through their official roadmap.

Is Regret still active or relevant?
Regret remains active through its latest governance proposal announced in September 2023, which aims to enhance community engagement and decision-making processes. Development currently focuses on improving the platform's scalability and user experience, with a recent update released in August 2023 that introduced new features for developers. The project maintains integrations with several decentralized applications, showcasing its utility within the broader blockchain ecosystem. Additionally, Regret has seen consistent trading volume across multiple exchanges, indicating ongoing market interest and participation. These indicators support its continued relevance within the cryptocurrency sector, demonstrating that Regret is not only active but also evolving to meet the needs of its users.
Who is Regret designed for?
Regret is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to engage with a decentralized platform that facilitates unique interactions and transactions. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to support the development of applications and services that leverage its underlying technology. Primary users, such as developers, can utilize these resources to create innovative solutions that meet specific needs within the ecosystem. Consumers benefit from the platform's functionalities, allowing them to participate in various activities, such as transactions or governance, enhancing their overall experience. Secondary participants, including validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a robust ecosystem where all participants can thrive and achieve their goals.
How is Regret secured?
Regret employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected to propose and validate new blocks based on the amount of Regret tokens they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This staking process not only secures the network but also incentivizes participants to act honestly, as they stand to lose their staked tokens in the event of malicious behavior. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable and tamper-proof. Incentives are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their contributions to the network, while slashing mechanisms penalize those who act dishonestly or fail to validate transactions properly. Additional security measures include regular audits and a governance framework that allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes, further enhancing the resilience and security of the Regret network.
Has Regret faced any controversy or risks?
Regret has faced several controversies and risks primarily related to security and regulatory challenges. In March 2023, the project experienced a significant security incident where a vulnerability in its smart contract was exploited, leading to a loss of user funds. The team responded promptly by pausing all transactions and conducting a thorough audit of the code. They released a patch to fix the vulnerability and initiated a reimbursement program for affected users. Additionally, Regret has encountered regulatory scrutiny in various jurisdictions, particularly concerning compliance with local financial regulations. The team has engaged with legal experts to ensure adherence to applicable laws and has implemented measures to enhance transparency and user protection. Ongoing risks for Regret include market volatility and potential future regulatory changes, which are common in the blockchain space. To mitigate these risks, the project has established a bug bounty program to encourage community involvement in identifying vulnerabilities and conducts regular audits to maintain security standards.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
