What is Rimbit?
Rimbit (RBT) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2014, designed primarily for peer-to-peer transactions and as a digital payment solution. It aims to provide a user-friendly platform for everyday transactions, enabling users to send and receive funds quickly and securely. The project operates on its own blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that enhances transaction efficiency and energy conservation. Rimbit's native token, RBT, serves multiple functions within its ecosystem, including facilitating transactions, acting as a medium of exchange, and providing staking opportunities for users to earn rewards. Rimbit stands out for its focus on community engagement and user accessibility, positioning itself as a practical alternative to traditional payment methods. When and how did Rimbit start?
Rimbit originated in April 2014 when a group of developers released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project aimed to create a decentralized digital currency that could facilitate peer-to-peer transactions. Rimbit launched its mainnet in June 2014, marking its initial public availability and allowing users to begin transacting with the currency. Early development focused on establishing a user-friendly platform and building a community around the currency. The initial distribution of Rimbit tokens occurred through a fair launch model, where users could mine the currency rather than participating in an initial coin offering (ICO) or similar fundraising mechanisms. This approach aimed to promote decentralization and community involvement from the outset. These foundational steps set the stage for Rimbit's growth and the development of its ecosystem in the following years.

Who is Rimbit designed for?
Rimbit is designed for consumers and businesses looking for a reliable digital currency solution, enabling them to conduct transactions efficiently and securely. It provides tools and resources, including user-friendly wallets and payment systems, to facilitate everyday transactions and enhance user experience. Primary users include individuals seeking an alternative to traditional payment methods, as well as small to medium-sized enterprises that want to integrate cryptocurrency into their payment systems. Rimbit aims to simplify the process of using digital currency for everyday purchases and services, thereby promoting broader adoption. Secondary participants, such as developers and validators, engage with Rimbit through its open-source platform, contributing to the ecosystem's growth and security. These participants can utilize APIs and SDKs to build applications or services that leverage Rimbit's infrastructure, fostering innovation and expanding use cases within the network.
How is Rimbit secured?
Rimbit employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators confirm transactions and maintain the integrity of the network. In this model, participants can become validators by staking their Rimbit tokens, which allows them to take part in the transaction validation process. This incentivizes users to hold and stake their tokens, as they earn rewards for their contributions to network security. The protocol utilizes cryptographic techniques, including Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography secures transactions and protects against unauthorized access. To align incentives and discourage malicious behavior, Rimbit incorporates a slashing mechanism, where validators can lose a portion of their staked tokens if they act dishonestly or fail to validate transactions properly. Additional safeguards include regular audits and governance processes that enhance the network's resilience and adaptability, ensuring a robust framework for security and trust within the ecosystem.
Has Rimbit faced any controversy or risks?
Rimbit has faced some controversy primarily related to its community governance and operational transparency. In early 2018, there were concerns regarding the project's direction and the communication between the development team and the community. This led to a temporary decline in community trust and engagement. The Rimbit team addressed these issues by increasing transparency through regular updates and community meetings, allowing for more direct feedback from users. Additionally, there have been discussions about the project's security measures, particularly regarding its consensus mechanism and potential vulnerabilities. The team has responded by conducting audits and implementing updates to enhance security protocols. Ongoing risks for Rimbit include market volatility and regulatory scrutiny, which are common in the cryptocurrency space. To mitigate these risks, the project emphasizes continuous development practices, community engagement, and adherence to best practices in security and compliance.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
