Who is Primate designed for?
Primate is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to engage with decentralized applications and services effectively. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to facilitate the development and integration of blockchain solutions. This support allows developers to create innovative applications while ensuring a seamless user experience for consumers interacting with these applications. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage with Primate through staking and governance mechanisms. This involvement not only helps secure the network but also contributes to the overall health and growth of the ecosystem. By catering to both primary and secondary user groups, Primate fosters a collaborative environment that encourages participation and innovation within the blockchain space.
How is Primate secured?
Primate employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to create new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This process not only enhances transaction finality but also reduces energy consumption compared to traditional Proof of Work systems. The network utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, including Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. Participants are incentivized through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their contributions to the network. To mitigate malicious behavior, the protocol incorporates slashing mechanisms, where a portion of a validator's stake can be forfeited if they act dishonestly or fail to validate correctly. Additional security measures include regular audits and a robust governance framework, which allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes. The diversity of client implementations further enhances the network's resilience against potential vulnerabilities, ensuring a secure and reliable environment for all users.
Has Primate faced any controversy or risks?
Primate has faced some controversy related to security risks, particularly concerning vulnerabilities in its smart contracts that were identified in early 2023. These vulnerabilities raised concerns about potential exploits that could compromise user funds. The development team responded promptly by conducting a thorough audit of the code and implementing necessary patches to address the identified issues. They also communicated transparently with the community about the steps taken to enhance security. In addition to technical risks, Primate has encountered regulatory scrutiny, particularly regarding compliance with local laws in various jurisdictions. The team has been proactive in engaging with legal experts to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and to mitigate potential legal challenges. Ongoing risks for Primate include market volatility and the inherent technical challenges associated with blockchain technology. To address these risks, the team has established a robust development framework, including regular audits and a bug bounty program to incentivize community members to report vulnerabilities. This commitment to transparency and security aims to foster trust and stability within the Primate ecosystem.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
