What is OKCash?
OKCash (OK) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2014 by a community of developers. It was created to provide a fast, secure, and user-friendly digital currency for everyday transactions, aiming to facilitate peer-to-peer payments without the need for intermediaries. The project operates on its own blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that enables efficient transaction processing and energy conservation. Its native token, OK, serves multiple purposes, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and as a medium of exchange within the OKCash ecosystem. OKCash stands out for its focus on community engagement and user experience, featuring a simple wallet interface and a commitment to low transaction fees. This positions it as a practical option for users seeking a reliable and accessible cryptocurrency for daily use.
When and how did OKCash start?
OKCash originated in January 2014 when a developer known as "OK" released its whitepaper, outlining the vision for a decentralized digital currency focused on fast transactions and low fees. The project aimed to create a user-friendly cryptocurrency that could facilitate everyday transactions. OKCash launched its mainnet shortly after the whitepaper release, marking its initial public availability. Early development focused on enhancing transaction speed and security, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to promote energy efficiency. The initial distribution of OKCash occurred through a fair launch model, where coins were mined by the community without an initial coin offering (ICO) or pre-mining, ensuring a level playing field for early adopters. This approach established a strong community foundation and set the stage for OKCash's growth and ecosystem development in the following years.
What’s coming up for OKCash?
According to official updates, OKCash is preparing for a series of enhancements aimed at improving its network performance and user experience. A significant upgrade, named "OKCash 2.0," is planned for Q1 2024, which will focus on scalability and transaction speed. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that enhance the overall functionality of the platform. In addition to the protocol upgrade, OKCash is also targeting new partnerships and integrations with various payment platforms throughout 2024. These initiatives aim to expand the usability of OKCash in everyday transactions and increase its adoption in the crypto community. Progress on these milestones will be tracked through their official GitHub repository and community forums, ensuring transparency and engagement with users. The roadmap reflects a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation within the OKCash ecosystem.

Who is OKCash designed for?
OKCash is designed for consumers and businesses looking for a decentralized payment solution. It enables users to make fast and secure transactions with low fees, catering to those who prioritize privacy and efficiency in their financial interactions. The platform provides various tools and resources, including user-friendly wallets and APIs, to facilitate easy access and integration into everyday transactions. Secondary participants, such as developers and validators, engage with OKCash by contributing to its ecosystem through development and network security. Developers can utilize SDKs and documentation to create applications that leverage OKCash's capabilities, while validators help maintain the integrity of the network. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and supports the broader adoption of OKCash as a viable alternative to traditional payment systems.
How is OKCash secured?
OKCash employs a Proof of Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, where miners validate transactions and secure the network by solving complex mathematical problems. This process ensures that only legitimate transactions are added to the blockchain, maintaining the integrity of the network. The cryptographic technique used for authentication and data integrity is the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), which provides a secure method for signing transactions. Incentives for miners are aligned through block rewards, which are issued for successfully mining new blocks. This reward system encourages participation and investment in the network's security. Additionally, OKCash does not implement slashing penalties typical in Proof of Stake systems, but it relies on the competitive nature of mining to deter malicious behavior. The network's resilience is further enhanced by regular audits and community governance processes, ensuring that any vulnerabilities are addressed promptly. The diversity of mining clients also contributes to the overall security of the OKCash ecosystem, making it robust against potential attacks.
Has OKCash faced any controversy or risks?
OKCash has faced some controversy primarily related to security and community governance. In early 2018, the project experienced a significant security incident when a vulnerability in its code allowed for double-spending attacks. The team responded promptly by releasing a patch to address the exploit and communicated transparently with the community about the issue. They also implemented additional security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Furthermore, there have been ongoing discussions within the community regarding governance and project direction, which sometimes led to disputes among stakeholders. The OKCash team has worked to foster a more inclusive governance model to address these concerns and improve community engagement. As with many blockchain projects, ongoing risks for OKCash include market volatility and regulatory scrutiny. The team continues to mitigate these risks through regular updates, community involvement, and maintaining transparency in their operations.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

What is showing Historical Market Depth?
Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
