The MoonSwap token is primarily used for trading, liquidity provision, and governance within the platform, allowing users to participate in decision-making processes related to the project. As a blockchain project, MoonSwap aims to enhance the trading experience by offering lower fees and improved liquidity options for users in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.
When and how did MoonSwap start?
MoonSwap (MOON) was launched in 2021 as a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Ethereum blockchain. It was developed by a team of blockchain enthusiasts aiming to provide a user-friendly platform for trading and liquidity provision. The project gained traction with its initial listing on major exchanges and has since focused on enhancing its liquidity pools and user experience, contributing to its growth in the DeFi space.
What’s coming up for MoonSwap?
MoonSwap is gearing up for an exciting phase with its latest roadmap updates, aimed at enhancing user experience and expanding its ecosystem. Upcoming features include the integration of advanced liquidity pools and cross-chain swaps, which are set to launch in Q1 2024. The community plans to host a series of AMAs and workshops to engage users and gather feedback on future developments. Additionally, MoonSwap is focusing on partnerships with DeFi projects to broaden its use cases, positioning itself as a go-to platform for decentralized trading. These initiatives reflect MoonSwap's commitment to innovation and community-driven growth.
What makes MoonSwap stand out?
MoonSwap stands out from other cryptocurrencies due to its unique hybrid liquidity model, which combines automated market-making with a traditional order book system, enhancing trading efficiency. Compared to conventional DeFi platforms, its special feature of incentivizing liquidity providers through a dual-token system not only fosters community engagement but also ensures sustainable tokenomics. This real-world use case facilitates seamless transactions and promotes a robust ecosystem for decentralized finance activities.
What can you do with MoonSwap?
MoonSwap is primarily used as a utility token within the MoonSwap ecosystem, facilitating payments and transactions in DeFi apps. Users can engage in staking to earn rewards, participate in governance decisions, and trade NFTs. Its integration into various decentralized finance applications enhances its utility and user engagement in the crypto space.

Its target audience includes investors and traders looking to access liquidity and swap tokens within a user-friendly platform. The community of MoonSwap is also ideal for those interested in participating in yield farming and liquidity provision within the growing DeFi ecosystem.
How is MoonSwap secured?
MoonSwap secures its network through a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are chosen based on the number of tokens they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This model enhances network security by incentivizing honest behavior among validators, thereby protecting the blockchain from malicious attacks and ensuring transaction integrity. The decentralized nature of the validator setup further strengthens the overall security of the MoonSwap ecosystem.
Has MoonSwap faced any controversy or risks?
MoonSwap has faced scrutiny due to concerns over extreme volatility and the inherent risks associated with decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms. The project has been linked to potential security incidents, including hacks and rug pulls that could jeopardize investors' funds. Additionally, the lack of regulatory oversight raises legal issues that may complicate its long-term viability.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
