Monad (MON)
What is Monad?
Monad (MON) is a blockchain project designed to enhance the efficiency and scalability of decentralized applications. Launched in 2023, Monad aims to address the limitations of existing blockchain systems, particularly in terms of transaction throughput and latency. The project operates on its own native Layer 1 blockchain, utilizing a consensus mechanism that optimizes for speed and security. Monad's native token, MON, plays a crucial role within the ecosystem. It is primarily used for transaction fees, incentivizing network validators, and potentially participating in governance decisions. This makes the token integral to the network's operation and security. What sets Monad apart is its focus on high-performance smart contracts, which are designed to execute transactions more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional blockchain platforms. This unique feature positions Monad as a significant player in the realm of scalable blockchain solutions, aiming to support a wide range of decentralized applications with enhanced performance metrics.
When and how did Monad start?
Monad originated in 2022 when the founding team released its whitepaper outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project aimed to develop a high-performance blockchain platform focused on scalability and efficiency. Following the whitepaper's release, Monad launched its testnet in early 2023, allowing developers and users to engage with its features and provide feedback. The mainnet went live in mid-2023, marking the platform's official entry into the blockchain ecosystem. The initial distribution of Monad's tokens was conducted through a fair launch model, ensuring a decentralized and community-focused approach. This launch strategy was designed to promote widespread participation and foster a robust community around the project. These foundational steps laid the groundwork for Monad's development and growth, setting the stage for its ongoing evolution within the blockchain space.

Is Monad still active or relevant?
Monad remains active, as evidenced by its recent development updates and community engagement. The project released a significant upgrade in August 2023, focusing on improving scalability and transaction efficiency. Monad maintains a presence on several major exchanges, indicating a stable market presence and liquidity. The development team continues to actively engage with the community through regular updates and discussions on their official forums and social media channels. In terms of governance, Monad has seen active participation in recent proposals, with voting events taking place as recently as September 2023. This ongoing governance activity reflects a committed user base and a responsive development team. Additionally, Monad has maintained integrations with several decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, supporting its relevance in the broader DeFi ecosystem. These indicators collectively support Monad's continued activity and relevance within the blockchain sector.
Who is Monad designed for?
Monad is designed primarily for developers, enabling them to build and deploy decentralized applications with enhanced efficiency. It provides essential tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the development process. This infrastructure is intended to support developers in creating innovative applications that leverage Monad's blockchain technology. Secondary participants, such as validators and creators, are also integral to Monad's ecosystem. Validators engage through staking mechanisms, ensuring the network's security and integrity. Creators can utilize Monad's platform to develop and distribute digital assets or services, contributing to a diverse and dynamic ecosystem. Overall, Monad aims to empower its users by providing a robust and versatile blockchain environment tailored to their needs.
How is Monad secured?
Monad employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and ensuring the network's integrity. Validators are selected based on the amount of Monad tokens they stake, which aligns their interests with the network’s security. The protocol utilizes cryptographic techniques such as Ed25519 for signature verification and data integrity, ensuring secure and authentic transactions. Validators earn rewards for their participation, incentivizing honest behavior, while a slashing mechanism penalizes malicious actions or failures to comply with protocol rules, further discouraging misconduct. The network's security is bolstered by regular audits and a robust governance framework, which allows for community participation in decision-making processes. These elements collectively contribute to Monad's resilience and reliability.
Has Monad faced any controversy or risks?
As of the latest available data, Monad has not faced any major public controversies or significant incidents. However, like any blockchain project, it is exposed to potential risks, including technical vulnerabilities, regulatory challenges, and market fluctuations. The Monad team actively works to mitigate these risks through regular security audits, continuous development, and community engagement. They emphasize transparency and have implemented measures such as bug bounty programs to identify and address vulnerabilities proactively. While no specific controversies have been documented, the project remains vigilant in monitoring and managing potential risks to maintain the integrity and security of its platform.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
