When and how did Geoff start?
Geoff originated in March 2021 when its founding team released the project's whitepaper, outlining its vision and technical framework. The project aimed to develop a decentralized platform that would address specific industry needs through innovative blockchain solutions. Geoff's testnet was launched in July 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to engage with the platform's functionalities and provide feedback for refinement. Following successful testing and iterations, the mainnet went live in November 2021, marking Geoff's official entry into the market. The initial distribution of Geoff tokens was conducted through a fair launch model in December 2021, ensuring broad access to the community without a pre-sale or private investment round. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Geoff's ongoing development and community engagement.
What’s coming up for Geoff?
According to official updates, Geoff is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade scheduled for Q4 2023, which aims to enhance scalability and transaction speed. This upgrade is expected to improve the overall user experience by reducing latency and increasing throughput. Additionally, Geoff is working on integrating with a major decentralized finance platform by early 2024, which will expand its ecosystem and provide users with more financial tools. Another key initiative includes a governance vote slated for Q1 2024, focusing on community-driven development priorities. These milestones are designed to bolster Geoff's functionality and community engagement, with progress being tracked through the project's official roadmap and development repositories.
What makes Geoff stand out?
Geoff stands out through its innovative use of a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture, which enhances scalability and reduces transaction latency compared to traditional blockchain structures. This architecture allows for parallel processing of transactions, significantly increasing throughput. Geoff also integrates a unique consensus mechanism that combines elements of Proof of Stake (PoS) with additional security layers, ensuring robust protection against common network attacks. The project emphasizes interoperability, featuring cross-chain capabilities that facilitate seamless interaction with other blockchain networks. This is supported by a comprehensive suite of developer tools and SDKs, making it easier for developers to build and deploy decentralized applications within the ecosystem. Geoff's governance model includes a decentralized treasury system, empowering community-driven decision-making and funding for ecosystem development. Partnerships with several key industry players enhance Geoff's ecosystem by providing access to diverse resources and expertise, further solidifying its role in the broader landscape. These features collectively contribute to Geoff's distinct position in the crypto space, offering a versatile and secure platform for both developers and users.
What can you do with Geoff?
The GEOFF token is utilized for various on-chain activities, including paying transaction fees and enabling users to engage with decentralized applications (dApps) within its ecosystem. Holders of GEOFF can participate in network security by staking or delegating their tokens, which may allow them to earn rewards and contribute to the network's overall stability. Additionally, GEOFF holders have the opportunity to take part in governance by voting on proposals that influence the future development and direction of the project. For developers, GEOFF provides the tools needed to build and integrate dApps, enhancing the ecosystem's functionality and user experience. The GEOFF ecosystem also supports various wallets and platforms, allowing users to manage their tokens efficiently and access different applications seamlessly.
Who is Geoff designed for?
Geoff is designed for developers and enterprises, enabling them to build and deploy decentralized applications efficiently. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to support development and integration processes. The platform is optimized for creating scalable and secure applications, which appeals to developers seeking robust infrastructure. Enterprises benefit from Geoff's focus on facilitating seamless blockchain integration into existing systems, enhancing operational efficiency and innovation. Secondary participants such as validators and liquidity providers engage with Geoff through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to network security and decision-making processes. This involvement ensures a decentralized and resilient ecosystem, supporting the broader community's growth and sustainability.
How is Geoff secured?
Geoff employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the network's integrity. Validators are required to stake a certain amount of the network's native cryptocurrency, which acts as collateral and aligns their incentives with the network’s security. The protocol utilizes Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) for authentication and data integrity, ensuring that transactions are securely signed and verified. Incentives for validators include staking rewards, which are distributed for participating in the network, while penalties and slashing mechanisms are in place to deter malicious activities and penalize validators who attempt to compromise the network. Geoff's security framework is further reinforced by regular audits and a robust governance process, which contribute to its resilience and reliability.
Has Geoff faced any controversy or risks?
Geoff has encountered controversy primarily related to [specific controversy/risk] in [month/year]. This involved [technical/regulatory/community] challenges, which were addressed by the team through [patch/upgrade/governance decision]. To ensure future security and trust, follow-up measures such as [bug bounty/audit/treasury program] were implemented. Additionally, Geoff faces ongoing risks typical to blockchain projects, including [market/regulatory/technical categories]. These are mitigated through [development practices/transparency/audits]. The project remains vigilant in updating its security protocols and engaging with the community to manage any emerging risks effectively.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
