Vitalik Buterin Clears the Rumor Around his Recent Huge Transactions
Ethereum's creator, Vitalik Buterin, clarifies he's not selling his cryptocurrency for personal profit, amid recent big transfers.
Ethereum's creator, Vitalik Buterin, talked about his recent big transactions with cryptocurrency. He said he's not using it to get himself rich or using it for personal gains.
Buterin told people on Warpost, a kind of decentralized social media, "I haven’t sold ETH for personal money since 2018." He explained that he gives most of this money to charities and other good causes. When they get the money, they might sell it to pay for things they need.
This news comes after he moved a big amount, $14.9 million in USDC, to Gemini, a place to trade cryptocurrency. A company, PeckShield, found out about this on October 16.
Looking closer on a website called Etherscan, we see Buterin got this $14.93 million from a charity linked to him named Kanro on October 14.
Buterin also moved other big amounts recently. He sent about $500,000 to Coinbase in September and moved over $3.9 million in total that month. One big move was in September, when he sent crypto worth $600,000 to Coinbase. In early October, he moved crypto worth about $1 million there too.
