FTX Exploiter Moves $36.8 Million amid SBF court trial which according to the Judge is drama filled
About $36.8 million in Ethereum, has been moved by a crypto wallet linked to an FTX Hacker during an intense time of court actions involving Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the former CEO of the now-closed crypto exchange.
Last year, FTX was hacked and $600 million was stolen just hours after the company had asked for bankruptcy protection. Ryne Miller from FTX had warned traders: “FTX has been hacked...Please don’t go to the FTX site, as it might download Trojans.”
After almost a year of no activity, the person who took the funds started moving them around, beginning with a $17.1 million transfer, as per data from Spot On Chain. The total initial amount stolen was 175,496 ETH, which was worth $294 million, but now it has decreased to $196.014 million.
Since the end of September, a total of 67,500 ETH has been movedfrom five of the 15 wallet addresses linked to the FTX exploiter. Some of this was moved through the THORchain router, some to the Railgun contract, and some was exchanged for Bitcoin (tBTC).
The trial against SBF, connected to FTX's collapse, started on Oct. 3, with him denying all charges of fraud and money laundering. During the trial, the Department of Justice and SBF’s defense team presented their opening statements, each side sharing their different views of SBF's actions and intentions.
