FTX founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, asks for release time from prison to work on his defense, amid concerns over his bail and trial preparations.

FTX's founder, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), is currently in prison in Brooklyn. His lawyers asked Judge Lewis Kaplan to allow SBF to be free for 5 days each week. They said he needs this time to work with his lawyers on his defense. Right now, SBF can't properly look at all the documents related to his case because of his situation in prison.

The lawyers told the judge that the government gave them a huge number of messages last week, which SBF can't check now. They believe if SBF can use a computer with internet at the court, it would help the case move faster.

SBF says he did not do anything wrong, but if found guilty, he could be in prison for over 100 years. His trial will start in October.

The lawyers for the government suggested giving SBF the case documents on hard drives. But they think it's hard to put everything on a laptop for him. They even thought of moving SBF to another place where he can use a laptop, but prison officials did not like this idea.

Prosecutors have some issues with SBF's defense plan. They reported that SBF didn't give them all the details about the legal advice he got. Because of this, they believe he shouldn't use this defense during the trial.

SBF's request comes after the judge took away his $250 million bail last week. This happened because SBF is accused of trying to scare witnesses so they won't speak against him in court. The prosecutors say he shared private diary entries with a newspaper to intimidate a witness. Before this, he was also accused of trying to contact someone from FTX US secretly. SBF broke his bail rules many times, and because of this, the judge finally took his bail away.
