Former First Lady Of The U.S. Launches An NFT
Melania Trump launches Independence Day NFTs, aiding foster children with the proceeds.
Melania Trump, former US first lady, has launched a set of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) for Independence Day. This follows after her husband, Donald Trump, released his second batch of NFT trading cards two months ago.
Donald Trump's digital trading cards were sold in April for $99 each. They were very popular at the time, but the value fell when the new set was released.
Melania Trump's new NFTs are called "The 1776 Collection" and feature six Limited Edition Collectables. They are for sale through “USAmemorabilia” for $50 each from the 29th of June. The NFTs have images of famous US locations, like the Statue of Liberty.
Melania explained that each NFT represents a part of America's history. She said they were created to honour the country's past. She stated: "The 1776 Collection of artwork draws inspiration from several iconic landmarks of our nation."
Some of the money made from selling these NFTs will go towards the Be Best initiative- Fostering the Future. This program helps children from foster care communities get education opportunities and scholarships. It gives computer science scholarships to children leaving the foster care systems. This education can help them get jobs in technology and become financially independent.
Melania has said that since leaving Washington D.C. She has been more dedicated to helping foster children. She plans to continue this work even if she becomes the first lady again.
