ApeCoin Community Votes to Donate $1 Million to Support Ethereum Development
The ApeCoin community has voted to donate $1 million to support Ethereum's development, with funds going towards ETHGlobal and 11 ApeCoin hackathons
The ApeCoin community has voted in favor of donating $1 million to support the development of Ethereum, according to a recently passed proposal. The proposal, named AIP-230, aims to achieve several goals, including giving back to the Ethereum community, advancing development work around account abstraction, and introducing developers to ApeCoin.
The proposal received 46.21% of votes in favor, with 29.96% against and 23.84% abstaining. As part of the plan, the community intends to donate $300,000 to ETHGlobal, with the remaining $700,000 allocated to fund 11 ApeCoin hackathons and at least five public good initiatives.
Maariab, the author of the proposal, stated that the ApeCoin community would select judges for the hackathons. The motivation behind the donation is to support Ethereum, as ApeCoin would not be possible without the platform. The author emphasized that Ethereum is a public good that benefits from shared responsibility and collective appreciation.
The proposal was inspired by a tweet from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who suggested that more work needed to be done around account abstraction to improve wallet security. The ApeCoin community aims to further development work in this area while supporting Ethereum as a whole.
The donation from ApeCoin represents a significant contribution to the Ethereum ecosystem, and it is hoped that it will help to drive further innovation and development on the platform.
