New Malware Targets Mac Crypto Users: Kaspersky Urges Caution in App Downloads and Security Measures.

Kaspersky, a security company has just revealed their discovery of harmful software in the Apple Mac world. They reported that this software is hidden in illegal copies of apps and targets Mac users with cryptocurrency. The malware does not only steal the victim's cryptocurrencies but replaces the user's crypto wallet app with a fake and harmful one.

Kaspersky advises Mac users, especially those with digital wallets for cryptocurrency, to be very careful and should only download apps from safe websites and use good security programs for extra protection. This malware attacks Macs running version 13.6 or newer. It looks for crypto wallet apps and swaps them with dangerous ones.

Chainalysis, a company that analyzes blockchain data, says scams and theft are bigger problems in cryptocurrency than malware. But ransomware, which blocks your computer until you pay in crypto, is still a big issue.

As hackers get smarter, security companies must work harder to protect people and businesses. In August 2023, an expert said that teaching people basic cyber skills, like using strong passwords and not clicking on suspicious links, is very important. North Korean hackers, pretending to be journalists or government workers, have tricked people into giving them access to their crypto trading accounts and stealing their Bitcoin.
