Colombian President Petro embraces Bitcoin, exploring its integration into the economy after a meeting with Bitcoin expert Samson Mow.

After a meeting with Samson Mow, the founder of Bitcoin adoption company JAN3, Colombian President Gustavo Petro has now become a Bitcoin holder. During the meeting, they discussed a possible change in Colombia’s approach towards Bitcoin and blockchain along with its integration into Columbia’s economy.

At the meeting, Columbia’s President was given 100,000 sats (0.001 BTC) by Mow making the President a Bitcoin holder. Mow shared the news on social media, along with his gratitude for Petro's openness to Bitcoin, ending it with And don’t lose your Bitcoin!

Local reports reveal that President Petro has shown an interest in using Bitcoin in Colombia's economy, particularly through cooperatives. He's also considering integrating blockchain for public sectors like health billing and land management. These discussions show that governments are getting more interested in blockchain technology

However, Cryptocurrency has not been regulated in Columbia yet. The country has been trying to navigate cryptocurrency use, but there’s no result yet. The future of Bitcoin and blockchain in Colombia remains uncertain until clearer regulations are established.

President Petro’s recent meeting with experts like Mow suggests Colombia may soon embrace Bitcoin and blockchain technologies at a national level. There’s been a growing trend of bitcoin adoption in South America and Mow’s recent visit to discuss bitcoin strategies with the government serves as a confirmation of this trend
