Coinbase launches Base mainnet with 100+ fast and cheap apps, aiming to improve user experience and costs.

Coinbase has started a new system called Base mainnet for everyone. It has over 100 apps called dapps. These dapps are cheaper and faster than another system called Ethereum.

Jesse Pollak from Coinbase said that people can try these apps and enjoy low costs and quick transfers. Since they tested Base earlier this year and  added many crypto tools to it.

Basewas made using Optimism's software, called the OP Stack. It's a special system that makes things cheaper for dapps because it doesn't use the main Ethereum system all the time.

Soon, Coinbase will mostly use this new system for their products. Pollak shared, “Base mainnet is now ready for all. At the start, it has more than 100 dapps and tools for users. It's also connected to many Coinbase products.”

There's also an event named “onchain summer” happening with the start of Base mainnet. During this event, they will highlight Base's dapps in art, music, and games. People can also get a special digital collectible called “Base, Day One” NFT.

Before the public launch, developers and users moved more than $100 million to this new system.
