UK Supreme Court Rejects Craig Wright’s Appeal Against Famous Podcaster
U.K. Supreme Court rejects Craig Wright's appeal against Peter McCormack, upholding £1 award; Wright battles other crypto groups.
A legal expert has recently revealed that The U.K. Supreme Court has denied Craig Wright’s appeal in his case against Peter McCormack. Last July, judges ruled that Wright could only get 1 GBP for his claim against McCormack, a podcaster who disagreed with Wright's claim to be Bitcoin's creator.
"We just learned the Supreme Court refused Wright's appeal last year," said Rupert Cowper-Coles, McCormack's lawyer. "They're pleased that the one-pound damage award stands despite Wright's continuous attempt to overturn it.
Amid this denial, Wright is also fighting another legal battle against Bitcoin developers and crypto companies including Coinbase.
These groups have refused to settle the case with Wright, who claims that they violated his alleged copyright to Bitcoin’s white paper. COPA, a group representing Bitcoin developers and companies like Coinbase, rejected the settlement, saying it had hidden risks. Wright sued them in 2016.
