Hacker Mocks KyberSwap After Stealing $50 Million
KyberSwap DEX hit by $50M hack, affecting multiple platforms; TVL plunges from $80M to $22.23M, urging users to withdrawal.
KyberSwap, a decentralized exchange, was the target of a $50 million cyber attack, resulting in an urgent request for users to withdraw their assets. The majority of the stolen funds are in Ethereum and USDC.
Multiple KyberSwap platforms were attacked by the hacker, who stole $20 million from Arbitrum, $15 million from Optimism, and $7 million from Ethereum. According to the on-chain investigation, the theft was caused by a weakness in the exchange's programming, which specifically targeted liquidity provider pools.
The hacker's mocking comments have highlighted a growing trend in which hackers humiliate their victims in decentralized finance attacks.
The hacker jokingly stated "Negotiations will begin in a few hours when I am fully rested." he also further mocked saying, "How is Ontario this time of year?"
KyberSwap's total value locked (TVL) decreased from $80 million to $22.23 million following the attack. This large loss shows the heavy impact of the hack on the exchange's assets.
