Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticizes Biden's approach to Bitcoin, vows to support crypto investment if elected president.

Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has spoken out against the Biden administration's negative attitude towards Bitcoin (BTC) and other digital currencies. As a candidate for president, he expressed his disappointment during a campaign event. He stated, "Biden’s war on bitcoin and cryptocurrency will end when I am president."

DeSantis also discussed letting Americans invest in digital assets like Bitcoin if they choose to. However, he clarified that it won't be a requirement, but a personal choice.

DeSantis's latest comments might seem like an attempt to gain favor with the younger voters. He's likely referring to recent actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against crypto exchanges. The SEC, which is supposed to be separate from the government, has filed lawsuits against Coinbase, Binance, and others.

While the SEC should be independent, some, including DeSantis, think that this may not always be true, as SEC commissioners are chosen by the President.

Biden hasn't been clear about his views on crypto, which leads to speculation. His administration has also not made direct actions on the crypto industry, instead asking regulatory agencies to research it.

DeSantis thinks this lack of clarity might be hiding the government's real stance on crypto.

Despite being seen as a main competitor, DeSantis is still behind former President Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. A recent poll showed Trump leading DeSantis by a large margin among likely Republican voters.
