Mixin Network loses $200 million in a hack. The company seeks help from experts, while a separate SIM swap attack raises more security concerns.

Mixin Network, a decentralized peer-to-peer system, lost around $200 million after hackers targeted a third-party cloud service's database. The breach, discovered on Sept. 25, took place two days earlier. As a result, Mixin stopped all deposits and withdrawals.

The company is now working with blockchain investigator SlowMist and Google to investigate the incident and get back the stolen assets. Reports show Mixin had assets including $94.48 million in Ether and $23.3 million in Bitcoin, totaling $141.32 million.

In a related event, Buterin mentioned a SIM swap attack on him, where attackers tricked T-mobile to control his phone number. Such attacks can give hackers access to bank and crypto accounts.
