Miami's mayor, Francis Suarez, a GOP presidential candidate, would take his salary in Bitcoin (BTC) if he becomes president. He already takes some of his current salary in Bitcoin.

Reasons for Supporting Bitcoin Suarez believes in supporting cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin, as it ensures freedom. He sees crypto as a protection against a money system that's too political. Suarez thinks that the benefits of blockchain and fractional investments can help people make money with less risk.

Other Presidents and Bitcoin Many US presidential candidates are discussing crypto. Joe Biden and Donald Trump think it's risky. Yet, Suarez and others like Robert Kennedy Jr., Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy accept cryptocurrency donations for their campaigns. Ramaswamy believes Bitcoin shouldn't face strict rules. Kennedy Jr. also supports crypto.

Florida Governor Ron Desantis and Bitcoin Ron Desantis, viewed as a main GOP candidate, has shown strong support for Bitcoin. He believes Americans should have the right to use it. He's critical of lawmakers for not making clear crypto rules. But Suarez feels Desantis should have clearer views, especially on Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). He thinks just opposing CBDCs isn't enough.
