This collaborative environment fosters a robust ecosystem that supports both individual and institutional needs, aligning with Cocker's mission to promote decentralized solutions and enhance user experience.
How is Cocker secured?
Cocker employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to propose and validate new blocks based on the amount of Cocker tokens they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This staking process not only secures the network but also incentivizes participants to act honestly, as they have a financial stake in the network's success. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography protects against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable and tamper-proof. Incentives are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. Additionally, the protocol incorporates slashing mechanisms, where validators can lose a portion of their staked tokens if they act maliciously or fail to validate transactions correctly. To further enhance security, Cocker undergoes regular audits and maintains governance processes that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making, ensuring a robust and resilient network.
Has Cocker faced any controversy or risks?
Cocker has faced regulatory scrutiny regarding compliance with financial regulations in various jurisdictions, particularly concerning anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements. This scrutiny became prominent in early 2023 when several exchanges delisted Cocker due to concerns over its compliance practices. In response, the Cocker team implemented a series of upgrades to enhance its KYC processes and partnered with third-party compliance firms to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Additionally, Cocker experienced a technical incident in mid-2023 involving a vulnerability in its smart contract, which was exploited, leading to a temporary loss of funds. The team promptly addressed this by deploying a patch and conducting a thorough audit of the codebase. They also initiated a bug bounty program to incentivize community members to identify potential vulnerabilities. Ongoing risks for Cocker include market volatility and potential future regulatory changes, which the team aims to mitigate through continuous development practices, regular audits, and maintaining transparency with the community regarding compliance efforts.

Cocker Märkte
Was ist Markttiefe?
Was wird gemessen?

By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Vertrauen
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Vertrauen is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
