What is SAIL Token?
SAIL Token (SAIL) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2023, designed to facilitate decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. It aims to provide users with a platform for seamless transactions and financial services while addressing the challenges of traditional finance. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing the ERC-20 token standard, which allows for smart contracts and interoperability with various decentralized applications (dApps). The native token, SAIL, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking, and governance. Users can stake SAIL tokens to earn rewards and participate in decision-making processes regarding the platform's development and future initiatives. SAIL Token stands out for its focus on user empowerment and accessibility in the DeFi space, positioning it as a significant player in the evolving landscape of decentralized finance. Its commitment to enhancing financial inclusivity and providing innovative solutions makes it a noteworthy project in the cryptocurrency market.
When and how did SAIL Token start?
SAIL Token originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical specifications. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking its official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a decentralized ecosystem aimed at enhancing user engagement and providing innovative solutions within the blockchain space. The token's initial distribution occurred through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in October 2021, which facilitated the project's funding and community building. These foundational steps established SAIL Token's growth trajectory and laid the groundwork for its future developments and ecosystem expansion.
What’s coming up for SAIL Token?
According to official updates, SAIL Token is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade planned for Q1 2024, aimed at enhancing transaction efficiency and user experience. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will streamline operations within the ecosystem. Additionally, the team is working on strategic partnerships that are targeted for mid-2024, which will expand the token's utility and integration within various platforms. These milestones are designed to improve overall performance and user engagement, with progress being tracked through the project's official communication channels.

Who is SAIL Token designed for?
SAIL Token is designed for developers and consumers, enabling them to participate in a decentralized ecosystem focused on enhancing maritime logistics and supply chain efficiency. It provides essential tools and resources, including APIs and SDKs, to facilitate the integration of blockchain technology into existing systems and applications. This empowers developers to create innovative solutions that streamline operations and improve transparency within the maritime industry. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. By fostering collaboration among these user groups, SAIL Token aims to create a robust platform that addresses the unique challenges faced in maritime logistics, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs for all stakeholders involved.
How is SAIL Token secured?
SAIL Token employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to create new blocks based on the number of tokens they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This incentivizes participants to act honestly, as their staked tokens can be slashed or penalized for malicious behavior. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography protects the network against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable and tamper-proof. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network, encouraging ongoing engagement and security. Additionally, the network incorporates governance mechanisms that allow token holders to participate in decision-making processes, further enhancing its resilience. Regular audits and a focus on multi-client diversity also contribute to the overall security and robustness of the SAIL Token ecosystem.
Has SAIL Token faced any controversy or risks?
SAIL Token has faced some controversy related to regulatory scrutiny and community governance issues. In early 2023, the project encountered challenges when certain regulatory bodies raised questions about its compliance with local laws regarding token offerings. The team responded by enhancing their legal framework and engaging with regulators to clarify their operational compliance. Additionally, there were community disputes regarding governance decisions, particularly around proposed changes to the tokenomics structure. The team addressed these concerns by initiating a community voting process, allowing stakeholders to voice their opinions and vote on key proposals, which helped to restore trust and transparency within the community. Ongoing risks for SAIL Token include market volatility and potential regulatory changes that could impact its operations. To mitigate these risks, the team has implemented regular audits and maintains an open line of communication with the community to ensure transparency and adaptability to evolving regulatory landscapes.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
