What is LUKSO?
LUKSO (LYX) is a blockchain project launched in 2020 by a team led by Fabian Vogelsteller, known for his work on Ethereum. It was created to address the needs of the creative industries and the emerging digital lifestyle, focusing on the intersection of technology, fashion, and design. The project operates on its own Layer 1 blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, which enables smart contracts and decentralized applications tailored for the creative economy. Its native token, LYX, serves multiple purposes, including transaction fees, staking, and governance within the LUKSO ecosystem. LUKSO stands out for its unique approach to integrating blockchain technology with the fashion and lifestyle sectors, promoting digital ownership and identity through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralized applications. This positioning aims to empower creators and consumers alike, making it a significant player in the evolving landscape of digital assets and decentralized identity solutions.
When and how did LUKSO start?
LUKSO originated in March 2020 when the founder, Marjorie Hernandez, along with co-founder and blockchain expert, Fabian Vogelsteller, released its whitepaper. This document outlined the vision for a new blockchain ecosystem focused on the creative industries and digital lifestyle applications. The project launched its testnet, known as the LUKSO Testnet, in June 2021, which allowed developers to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. The mainnet launch followed in November 2021, marking the transition to a fully operational blockchain. Early development efforts concentrated on creating a decentralized infrastructure for digital assets, identity, and social interactions. The initial distribution of LUKSO tokens occurred through a fair launch model, which aimed to ensure equitable access to the token for early adopters and community members. These foundational steps set the stage for LUKSO's growth and the establishment of its ecosystem.

Who is LUKSO designed for?
LUKSO is designed for developers and creators in the fashion, gaming, and lifestyle industries, enabling them to build decentralized applications and digital assets that enhance user experiences. It provides a robust set of tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the creation of innovative solutions on its blockchain. Secondary participants, such as validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a diverse ecosystem where users can create, trade, and manage digital identities and assets, aligning with LUKSO's mission to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
How is LUKSO secured?
LUKSO employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected to propose and validate new blocks based on the amount of LYX, the native token, they stake. This staking model not only secures the network but also incentivizes participants to act honestly, as their staked tokens can be slashed (partially forfeited) in cases of malicious behavior or failure to validate correctly. The protocol utilizes cryptographic techniques such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) for authentication and ensuring data integrity. This ensures that transactions are securely signed and verifiable by other network participants. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network, thereby encouraging active engagement. Additionally, LUKSO implements governance mechanisms that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes, further enhancing the network's resilience and adaptability. Regular audits and a focus on multi-client diversity also contribute to the overall security framework of the LUKSO network.
Has LUKSO faced any controversy or risks?
LUKSO has faced some risks primarily related to the broader challenges within the blockchain ecosystem, including regulatory scrutiny and market volatility. As a project focused on the intersection of blockchain and lifestyle applications, it operates in a space that is increasingly attracting attention from regulators worldwide. This scrutiny can pose risks related to compliance and operational adjustments. In terms of technical risks, LUKSO has implemented various security measures, including regular audits and a focus on robust smart contract development practices. The team has also engaged with the community to address any governance disputes that may arise, ensuring transparency in decision-making processes. Ongoing risks for LUKSO include market fluctuations and potential regulatory changes that could impact its operations. The team is actively working to mitigate these risks through continuous development, community engagement, and adherence to best practices in security and compliance.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
