What is Digimon?
Digimon (DIGIMON) is a blockchain-based project launched in 2023, designed to create a decentralized platform for digital collectibles and gaming experiences. It aims to leverage the popularity of digital monsters, known as Digimon, to foster community engagement and interaction through unique digital assets. The project operates on a Layer 1 blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that enables efficient transactions and smart contract functionality. Its native token, DIGIMON, serves multiple purposes, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and governance rights within the ecosystem. Digimon stands out for its integration of gaming and blockchain technology, allowing users to collect, trade, and battle their digital monsters in a secure environment. This unique blend of entertainment and technology positions Digimon as a significant player in the growing market of blockchain gaming and digital collectibles, appealing to both fans of the franchise and the broader crypto community.
When and how did Digimon start?
Digimon originated in 1997 when Bandai and Toei Animation released the first Digimon virtual pet. This marked the beginning of the franchise, which quickly expanded into an anime series, video games, and trading card games. The initial concept revolved around digital monsters that could be raised and battled, appealing to a wide audience of children and young adults. The franchise's first anime series, "Digimon Adventure," premiered in March 1999, further solidifying its popularity. Over the years, various iterations and spin-offs were introduced, including sequels and reboots, which helped maintain interest in the franchise. While there was no formal whitepaper or blockchain-related launch events, the franchise's development milestones include the release of multiple video games and animated series, each contributing to the Digimon universe. The initial distribution of merchandise and media occurred through traditional retail channels, establishing a strong fan base that continues to engage with the Digimon brand today.
What’s coming up for Digimon?
According to official updates, Digimon is preparing for a major expansion of its ecosystem with the launch of a new game titled "Digimon: Digital Adventures," scheduled for Q1 2024. This game aims to enhance user engagement and introduce new gameplay mechanics that leverage blockchain technology for unique digital asset ownership. Additionally, there are plans for a protocol upgrade named "Digimon Protocol 2.0," targeted for Q2 2024, which will focus on improving transaction speeds and scalability. Further initiatives include a partnership with a leading NFT marketplace, expected to be finalized by mid-2024, which will facilitate the trading of Digimon-related digital assets. These milestones are designed to enhance user experience and broaden the Digimon community, with progress being tracked through their official roadmap and community updates.

The community remains engaged, with regular updates and discussions occurring on social media platforms and forums, reflecting a vibrant user base. These indicators support Digimon's continued relevance within the digital asset landscape, demonstrating that it is not only active but also evolving to meet the needs of its users and the market.
Who is Digimon designed for?
Digimon is designed for a diverse audience, primarily targeting consumers and fans of the franchise, including children and young adults. It enables them to engage with a rich universe of digital monsters through various media, such as video games, trading card games, and animated series. The project provides tools and resources that enhance user experience, including interactive games and community platforms that foster social interaction and collaboration. Secondary participants include content creators and developers who contribute to the Digimon ecosystem by creating new games, merchandise, and fan content. They engage through platforms that support user-generated content and community events, allowing them to share their creations and connect with other fans. This collaborative environment helps to expand the Digimon universe while maintaining its relevance and appeal to both new and existing audiences.
How is Digimon secured?
Digimon utilizes a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, participants can become validators by staking a certain amount of Digimon tokens, which grants them the right to propose and validate new blocks. This staking requirement not only secures the network but also aligns the interests of validators with the overall health of the ecosystem. The protocol employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Ed25519 for digital signatures, ensuring secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography protects against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable and tamper-proof. Incentives are structured through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. Additionally, a slashing mechanism is in place to penalize malicious behavior or inactivity, thereby discouraging validators from acting against the network's interests. The network also benefits from regular audits and a governance framework that allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making, enhancing its resilience and security.
Has Digimon faced any controversy or risks?
Digimon has faced several controversies and risks primarily related to community governance and regulatory scrutiny. In early 2023, the project encountered a significant governance dispute when a proposal to alter tokenomics was met with backlash from a portion of the community, leading to a temporary halt in development discussions. The team addressed this by organizing a community vote to ensure that all stakeholders had a say in the decision-making process, which helped to restore trust and engagement. Additionally, regulatory challenges have emerged as governments worldwide continue to scrutinize cryptocurrency projects. Digimon has proactively engaged with legal advisors to ensure compliance with evolving regulations, particularly concerning anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements. Ongoing risks include market volatility and potential technical vulnerabilities, which are common in the crypto space. To mitigate these risks, the Digimon team has implemented regular security audits and established a bug bounty program to encourage community participation in identifying and resolving potential issues.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
