Thailand delays its plan to give $280 digital money to citizens over 16. Safety concerns and mixed opinions cause the pause until 2024.

Thailand had a big plan to give digital money to its people, but now there's a delay. The country wanted to give around $280 to every person over 16 years old to help the economy.

The launch is now moved to 2024 because Thailand wants to make sure the system is safe. This means protecting the money and people's personal details.

Thailand's Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, who knows about digital money, had this idea to make people spend more. This would help the country's economy grow by 5% next year. The plan would use money from taxes to help pay for it.

People have different opinions about this plan. Some say only people who really need the money should get it. Others are worried about the risks to Thailand's economy. The country must think carefully about this big plan, especially with other money problems they are currently experiencing.
