Starknet Foundation Prepares to Airdrop New STRK Tokens
Starknet Foundation prepares to distribute new STRK tokens, aiming to reward Starknet and Cairo users, with criteria and value yet to be confirmed.
The Starknet Foundation has taken a snapshot in preparation to release and distribute a new STRK token. They are doing this to reward users and contributors of the Starknet Ethereum layer.
To ensure that no recent activities can influence eligibility, Starknet Foundation plans to distribute the token based on past activities, a Starknet spokesperson reported. This came after leaked criteria surfaced online, sparking discussions.
Some screenshots of the draft plans were leaked but the foundation claimed that these plans were still under development. They promised to share the final criteria and details when ready.
It's rare for a major project's airdrop criteria to be made public before the official announcement, making it more believable that it was a leak. The project aims to reward developers and users of Starknet and its programming language, Cairo.
Various criteria for the distribution include rewards for early Ethereum stakers, developers, and users of the Starkex SDK. dYdX, users of the known DYDX Dapp on Starknet, might also be rewarded.
The final criteria are still to be confirmed, but they aim to reward real users while avoiding bots or fake accounts. The challenge is to include as many real users as possible, even from developing countries, while maintaining fairness.
Starknet stands out among Ethereum's Layer 2 solutions with its unique STARK technology and its programming language, Cairo. The potential value of the STRK token, set at 10 billion tokens, remains speculative, with hopes of a significant airdrop.
