Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen donates $10 million in XRP to Kamala Harris’s campaign, fueling her record-breaking $1 billion fundraising total this quarter.

Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has once again contributed to Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, this time donating $10 million in XRP, marking his second major donation in just a few weeks. Larsen believes Harris will promote tech innovation and foster crypto-friendly policies within the Democratic Party. His support is notable as many in the tech industry lean toward Donald Trump.

Earlier this month, Larsen had already donated $1 million in XRP to Harris's campaign. He emphasized the need for Democrats to adopt a new strategy for the tech sector, especially concerning cryptocurrency. "It's time for the Democrats to embrace a more forward-thinking stance on technology. I believe Kamala Harris will help the U.S. lead in global tech, and that’s why I’m contributing $10 million to her campaign," Larsen explained.

Despite Ripple’s ongoing legal issues with the SEC, which has intensified under Democratic governance, Larsen remains supportive of the party. Ripple, facing a protracted legal fight, recently filed a cross-appeal seeking further clarity in its case against the SEC. In a show of solidarity, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed respect for Larsen’s decision, adding that Ripple will continue to work with both Democrats and Republicans to push for more crypto-friendly regulations.

Ripple has also been active politically, contributing $50 million to Fairshake, a super PAC that backs pro-crypto candidates from both major parties, including Bernie Moreno, Patrick McHenry, and Dusty Johnson. While Chris Larsen’s net worth is estimated at $3.1 billion, his latest contribution represents just 0.3% of his wealth, leading some to note that it’s an amount he "can’t even feel."

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’s campaign has shattered records, raising an astounding $1 billion this quarter, which has far outpaced Trump’s fundraising efforts. In September alone, Harris secured $378 million, compared to Trump’s $160 million. By early October, Harris’s campaign had already brought in $348 million, while Trump’s campaign had raised $283 million.

Despite decentralized prediction platforms like Polymarket favoring Trump’s chances, Harris’s fundraising momentum suggests strong support. Many observers note that Harris’s massive financial backing, including contributions from tech figures like Chris Larsen, reflects a growing belief that she can lead the charge in tech and crypto policies under the Democratic platform.
