Telegram Launches Toncoin Payments for Ads, Shares Revenue with Channel Owners
Telegram introduces Toncoin for ad buys, promising 50% revenue share with channel owners
Telegram has now enabled payments with Toncoin for ad purchases on its platform, offering a new way for channel owners to earn from their content.
This recent update allows users to boost their channel visibility using Toncoin, with Telegram committing to share 50% of ad revenues with public channel owners.
Users can buy ads with just a few Toncoins, choosing precisely where their ads will appear.
Telegram has also announced that channel owners can withdraw their earnings without any fees soon through Telegram’s Fragment exchange.
The decision to use TON Blockchain for these transactions highlights its advantages, including low fees and high speeds, with a capability of handling 100,000 transactions per second tested last November.
Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, previously mentioned that despite the platform's channels getting over a trillion views monthly, only 10% have used Telegram’s ad system.
He suggests that this update will encourage content creators to reinvest their earnings into their channels or cash out, creating a cycle that benefits both creators and the platform.
Following this announcement, Toncoin's price saw a 2.32% increase, indicating a positive market response.
This move by Telegram is seen as a step towards integrating cryptocurrency more deeply into its services, providing a new avenue for monetization and engagement within the platform.
